He has definitely played there in the past. He started doing a songwriter's club, meet up group kind of thing there within the last year or so. He is very tight with that establishment.

That's how I feel about Boston Calling. I go pretty much regardless, but whether I go one day or all three depends on who plays and when. Two years back, I bought a three-day pass because I looked at the line-up and said "Man, this is stacked! I'll definitely want to see bands across all three days!" Then... All of the bands I wanted to see were on Sunday. Haha.

Oh, I was just hoping for an after show with some combination of those three bands anywhere in the city, hah. Not necessarily at Gman! But yeah, that place is definitely a rad spot.

My guess is some people don’t want to go to out on a Sunday to drink and do emo night. I bet if Beauty Bar moved their emo night to Friday or Saturday they would get more people to atteand.

Let's hold our breath until we disappear

Just noticed that 3-day passes are back at $129.98. Things are definitely moving now.

    Finally

I still find it odd that we randomly got those 3 aftershows and nothing else

    Good catch! Not sure

Well, I think only one of those is directly linked to the festival in any sort of official capacity (the "Emo Night" thing) and that felt more like an accidental leak than an official announcement by the festival.

That being said, the fact that these all came out at once is potentially telling.

The festival retweeted all 3 right away so doesn't seem like a mistake to me haha

Beauty Bar is a dance club every other night of the week though from what I can tell. They likely make more money that way, unfortunately. Plus Sunday is a good night in Chicago due to a lot of service industry people having that night off. Just judging by the photos they post on Facebook of all the smiling young faces having fun, they seem to be doing alright. :)

Good point. Also? I was wrong. That Spitalfield show is 100% an official Riot Fest pre-show party.

What're we feeling now? Next Tuesday for all remaining updates?

I think they'll spread them out, but we'll probably get second wave, after shows, and daily lineups early-mid next week. Gonna guess we'll get the schedule the week after.

Definitely spread out as far as announcements go, but I'd predict...

Tuesday = Second wave and day-by-day line ups
    Wednesday = Aftershows
Friday = Schedule (with aftershows on-sale shortly after)

Can't wait for people to start complaining about how they moved the price back up to the normal price point without an explicit warning.

"I wanted them for $99! Now they're $129! What gives?!! How am I supposed to plan my budget when you do things like this?!!"

Another possible good sign: the CoS article about their vip giveaway, written on Tuesday specifically says “blink, beck and unannounced mystery headliner” and then mentions Costello in the next sentenace about rounding out the rest of the upper card. So as of 2 days ago it appears Elvis is not being slid up to the 3rd spot. That’s something... I think!

I'd say that's something! Here's what this means: Riot Fest told ConsequenceOfSound that they have an "unannounced mystery headliner."

Whether that's true or not remains TBD, but I'd guess it is -- and I'd bet they know who it is/feel relatively certain that it won't fall through. I have a hunch around this that I'm going to keep to myself for the moment because it's a theory based on something that's barely circumstantial evidence and I don't want to fan any flames.

Related: I'm now wondering if that last headliner will remain a mystery until the day of or something fucked like that (because it says "unannounced" instead of "to be announced"). This would line-up with the whacked out hunch I'm entertaining.

Oh Come On! Isn't spouting out theories, however unfounded, what makes talking endlessly about a festival fun?

My guess is...Mick Jaggar solo, and they just don't wont to bum everyone out even though it cost them a lot of money. Oh, Oh! Or better yet, Weird Al because of all the polka stuff in the hint video. Or better yet, Weird Al do songs by the Who sing everyone kept saying "Who" in the hint video.

Unannounced mystery headliner of Green Day playing Dookie. Everybody that isn't there hears about it is bummed and then they announce a whole tour of it. Green Day agreed to play for a far reduced cost if it was done this way so that it would be pretty much just be a promo for their tour with how much attention them playing an unannounced set at a festival would get. Or at least that is what would happen in my dreams!

It's clearly a Beatles reunion. They just need to work out the legal circumstances around exhuming George and John.

If this is too tasteless for you, I'm not sorry.

Dookie is like my third favorite Green Day album. Can they secretly do Insomniac or Kerplunk instead?

Would be stoked for "Weird Al" however he performs.

Well. This is exactly what I was thinking... Almost to the fucking word.

But the "theory" is backed by the fact that CoS picked up on the "Green Day Dookie" tour story, and had something about "waiting for an announcement" in that particular article. Fucking outlandish, but that's where my brain went.

And if it is going to be billed as a "mystery" headliner? Green Day performing that album is one of few acts that could pull that off and not run the risk of bumming a number of folks out.
