oh my god, I'm back on my bullshit Prestigious

I love FHTI but don't think it has Dan's best vocal performance

Listening to MSIT today and I honestly hate having Tim on I Pessimist. Wish they had Derek do the other vocals. It also just annoys me that they gave Tim a lead feature when RA put Skiba on two songs and you wouldn't have any idea if it didn't say he was featured haha

I haven't been a Tim or Rise Against fan much post-Sufferer so that's definitely part of it lol. I just like Derek's voice miles more

Sufferer and MSIT were both produced by Bill Stevenson :praise:

I'm a firm believer that the band got 10 times better once Derek joined.

I don't agree or disagree with you? Haha. I'll always have a fond place in my heart for the early stuff, but Good Mourning is my fav, even if nothing after that really reaches Goddamnit or MICF for me

That's fair ! I love the first three records but like my issue is Glenn and Mike just sound like beginners to me. Derek just adds so much more.

Derek is definitely the best drummer of the 3, no disagreements there!
Glenn's playing is special to me because it's so raw. Like, it definitely seems like they didn't record to a click track and the fact that the songs even hold together at all is really a testament to the band's chemistry.

I think Mike’s performance on FHTI is serviceable but Glenn absolutely crushes on the albums/EPs he’s on. You can’t beat that chemistry. But yeah, Derek is the best.

I agree ! I don't think they used a click track on the first two at least. It's weird though because Matt always has said Derek saved the band so I'm not really sure what was going on before Derek really joined.

Did you read the Rank Your Records article where he talks about how much he doesn't like Mike Felumlee? Haha it's kinda strange to bring up like almost 20 years after the fact.

I would love if they decided to rerecord one of the first 3 album's just to hear Derek's take.

I think there was drama with Glenn as he previously dated Heather, and I’m guessing their breakup put strain in the camp. Also he was rumored to have sent a bag of shit to Blake from Jawbreaker or something, and that obviously pissed Matt and Dan off. I don’t even remember where I heard that so who knows if it’s true.

Oh I remember him in a podcast where he said he refuses to make music with shitty people. He didn't name anyone but he hinted at Mike and Glenn.

Should I go to the L.A. show? I've never seen the band before and don't really have the money, but I really don't want to miss them haha

Good Mourning is easily one of the most influential album's in the " scene ".

Their tickets are pretty cheap but I'd jump on it before they sell out.
