I wouldn't say when I listened to the album that I felt negative. I just felt bored.

I still think it’s way more interesting and has more hits than misses than most people are letting on

 

Listening now, I've enjoyed everything up until God, it's definitely a more chill vibe but I'm not bored

 

Listening now and just popping in to say the title track is incredible and it's been really good all around so far

 

i wouldn't say that at all. it's different for sure. i'm on listen 4 now and just wanna keep listening lmao. i'm now backing up to say god is a woman through no tears is an incredible run.

 

I thought this flowed pretty well, actually. Seems like a grower, but I did like it immediately

 

Yea I really enjoyed the whole thing. Need to listen outside of work but I see myself going back to it a fair amount. It's a lot of fun and I think there are some interesting things going on, and she sounds incredible on it.

God Is a Woman is probably still my favorite track on here, goddamn that's such a good song

 

I'll see if more listens change my mind on the tracks I wasn't into

 

This is the first Ariana Grande album I've listened to in full and I really like it

I get wanting to hear her swing for massive pop singles like Dangerous Woman again, but like... just listen to that album.

This album is a very different zone, people who say there’s no progression are literally not listening. I’m a fan of the “singing in an empty club” aesthetic that she’s creating here. Surprised so few others are on board.

Also, I wasn’t a big fan of “no tears left to cry” when it first dropped, but coming after “breathin” (!!!!) it works way better.

 

I have zero issue with trying new things, changing styles, I am always a huge proponent of bands/artists changing their style. But change alone isn't enough, the songs also have to be good. A lot of songs on here I do not think are very good.

 

Chip commercial concept pitch:

It opens in a drab, dull supermarket... everyone looks bored and lifeless, and the isle is lined with gray bags of generic-looking chips.

Suddenly, Pharrell and Ariana Grande enter to the tune of "Blazed" by Ariana Grande, and the store comes to life and becomes a colorful dance party.

Pharrell: "Shorty, you can get LAY'S!"

With my foot in my mouth, I am here to say this is a great album.

 

Yeah, this is admittedly growing on me... still don't feel that gripped by some tracks, but overall I'm clicking more with this after a couple more listens now that I've set aside some expectations.

 

Agreed, no tears left to cry was just an ordinary song to me but the transition from breathin into is sooo smoooooth, it’s my favorite part of the album probably.
