they rolled out gen3 around halloween with a few select pokemon, could see them doing something similar since i assume theyll give at least a months time devoted just to celebi without anything new.

 

i hope they find a way to make it difficult and get some longevity out of it. i don’t want it to be impossible for rural players but i don’t want to see some geek on reddit with three accounts do it in 30 minutes either.

 

I don't think the Mew quests were that difficult and it still took me like 3 months to complete it. That said I know people who had mew the first weekend. I'm just looking forward for a new reason to open the app everyday. Field Research has been maybe my favorite addition to the game to date. The 7-day bonuses and rewards are (usually) pretty fun.

 

Oh that's very cool that you can work on it alongside the Mew research, won't feel like I'm years behind everyone else.

 

whatever the case may be I am looking forward to finally being able to evolve my wailmer whether it's a quest goal or not lol

 

I was paranoid about this too but then decided I wanted to evolve my shiny one and just grab some others in the meantime. Last time around, I was super worried about having to grind for another Gyarados but then they made that event live and I got enough candies in about 20 minutes. haha.

Do we know any of the research tasks yet from leaks? If not, I'm guessing we'll have to take advantage of a lot of the newer stuff: Catch a shiny Pokemon, Send/Open 5 gifts, Get a lucky Pokemon, Hatch an Alolan egg... Maybe catch a Unown assuming they will boost the rates for a period of time.

 

my assumption is that the tasks will be different from the festivals tasks since they were able to be completed in a single afternoon i think.

I would say alolan pokemon, gifts, and trading will 100% be tasks in some capacity, and having increased johto spawns tells me you'll need a gold johto medal at some point as well.

 

glad to see more Johto love, i feel like with Gen3 and the recent sudden regenerated obsession with Kanto pokemon, Johto has been drastically neglected.

 

Now I need to finish the mew research in the next 4 days ( I know I don’t actually have to but I don’t want to have 2 different special research things going on at once).

 

I really hope that "evolve a Swablu" is the special research task evolution Pokemon, because I have a mountain of Swablu candies.

I forgot the gen 2 spawns were being pushed (which makes sense). You can probably throw in the evolutionary items in there as well since that’s when they were introduced. I also wouldn’t be surprised if they make you evolve an Umbreon/Espeon.
