I love the start of Lambert a lot more than the end, I think the change in vocals is expertly done though. I just assumed it was someone else. With Conor coming in and taking over.

 

damn the big explosive part of lambert is my favorite part of any song I’ve heard in years

 

Five Cups is one of those songs that just sets a mood so well, I couldn't even really describe what mood it is, but you get transported into that world so easily, much like a David Lynch movie.

 

I love the melody and sparseness of the beginning.

 

I love how the bass beat on lambert flips itself on the up beat and then back to the down beat

 

I'm sure you all are sick of reading stuff about this record but here's my review if you just can't get enough Foxing content!!!!

I love the whole thing it’s real National vibes at the beginning then big bloc party vibes then back to national. Even the big part sounds a bit like mr November but really it sounds like something from a weekend in the city

 

the bass work is incredible, I think it’s cool they all play bass so parts josh wasn’t able to lay down before moving to Philadelphia they were able to lay down themselves

 

I am going to be LIVID when I wear myself out on this album.

 

Growing on me with every listen.

Only feel the urge to skip Crown Candy.

 

You know what, the vocals still irritate me in places, but I am beginning to enjoy most of this album a lot more than my first few listens last week.

Definitely prefer the second half. I like Slapstick and the end of Grand Paradise is fantastic, but I think the second half is better. Lambert is a perfect closer.

 

Glad I'm not the only one.

Overall, I'm really happy with this. I had to be in a specific mood to listen to anything from Dealer, and an even more specific mood to listen to it all the way through, but this stays varied enough to warrant a listen at any time. Trapped In Dillards, Bastardizer, and Crown Candy are still growing on me. Gameshark has already grown on me a ton. The rest could all be my favorite at any given time.

The only song that hasn’t really clicked yet is 5 cups, but I have a feeling it will be one of those songs that hits me like a ton of bricks in like 2 months

I really need to devote time to become more familiar with 5 Cups on, I just love the ones ranked higher so much.

 

"crown candy" is awesome imo it reminds me of... the pixies? but like a pixies song that suddenly pours out of a bunch of weird harmonies and chord changes

Crown Candy the place for real rocks tho

 

I tried to rank but I just can’t. It’s like trying to rank your kids (not that I’d ever do that if I had kids)

Just wanna say Crown Candy is really great though, the weird psych feel, the funky breakdown in the middle, and the final chorus makes it one of my favorites. Plus I feel like it’s essential for the progression of Crown Candy>Won’t Drown>Lambert.

 

Finally have the chance to put this on and now I'm just listening to The Albatross again...

 

Heartbeats is amazing

 

Which is a great record but this one is a huge step up from both records imo
