I'm not sure how I feel about.

 

This sounds like an amalgamation of Pale Horses with their first 3 albums. I am all about this!

 

All I want to know is whether it matches up to your dreams!

 

The production also felt fuzzy and rough. That might be what they're going for, but I let the single flow right into Foxing's Grand Paradise and it was night and day.

 

Yeah two completely different kinds of production, everything about this mwY song especially the vocals seems to be a deliberate choice by the band. Considering my biggest qualm with Pale Horses is the sound/mixing of Aaron's vocals on the filtered/processed sections (which seems to a large percentage of his vocals on that album) this is a welcome change!

 

I was wondering what the title had to do with anything but a quick Google revealed this:

"In that day there will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, "HOLY TO THE LORD " And the cooking pots in the LORD'S house will be like the bowls before the altar." - Zechariah 14:20 (NASB)

 

This sounds incredible.

Production sounds fine

 

This is exactly how I feel. I was concerned at first blush when listening to the new track that I'd have the same qualms over the vocals but after relistening and digesting I'm way more into the vocals here...at least for now.

 

It really might just be my speakers.

I'll sit down with good headphones tonight and dig into it.

 

I'm glad someone agrees me on that matter, it's one of the only reasons I don't rate that album as highly as others do. It's not like Aaron hasn't done similar vocal processing on other mwY releases either (there is quite a lot of it on 'Brother, Sister'), but the way it sounds on Pale Horses just doesn't sit with me.

I wonder if there will be more conventional mwY vocals on the rest of the new album, this is very out there even for them but it works!

 

Song doesn't do a lot for me on first listen. I think I need it in the context of an album.

Like it more on my second and third listen, but much like D-Minor, I'm expecting it to flow much better in the context of the album.

The album artwork lines up a bit with the color scheme from this dream, haha:

A different dream had a kind of poppy beginning with the last minute or so being the loudest screams from Aaron I had heard, so that's a bit similar as well!

 

That was one of the first things that stood out to me. Along with the (obligatory) Rumi quote;

Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,
there is a field. I’ll meet you there.

 

I think the production is great, it weirdly reminds me of No Devo with how spacey it is and Aaron’s vocals so far back. Either way I audibly screamed on my balcony when I found out this wasn’t a drill

 

The slow build toward a yelling finish makes me think this might be the opening track? Maybe a amalgamation preview of what the album is going to be?
