I'll post my thoughts when I read it later. I like the art at least.

I wonder if Tom King is now considered the "head" Batman group writer? I remember there being a weird kerfuffle when Snyder claimed he was the "head" Batman writer because he was writing the Batman title, which he claimed was just something he was told when he was writing 'Tec. And Gail Simone apparently backed him up.

I wonder if that has changed with Snyder on AS Batman?

Depends what you mean by "head writer ". I understand All Star Batman is going to be more expensive than the other books because of Snyder and I believe higher page count. I also think it's out of continuity correct? Maybe there is no "head writer".

Spider-Woman was GREAT. Thank goodness it's back to normal after that lackluster event. This is low key one of the comics out there right now.

Paper Girls is back! I think I'm getting a better hang of what's all going on.

I already love Civil War II. Bendis + Marquez + Ponsor = flawless. Though, I'm not happy about She-Hulk! I'd be happy if they did something about it by the end of the event. But yeah, I feel bad for the people who will miss out because they're whiny babies about it being a second Civil War.

Green Lanterns could be fun. I'll get the first issue, I think. These seem like cool characters.

  8. Not sure about who the "head writer" is, but Snyder's new series is in continuity!

The new Punisher has a pretty fucked up ending.

Just finished Civil War II #1, what is everyone's thoughts on Tony Stark and Carol Danvers' motivations?
I know Bendis said they were trying to make it less morally onesided than the original Civil War,where it would be easier for people to identify with both sides, but man I really didn't empathize with Captain Marvel's side yet as she just comes off extremely naive and careless, while Iron Man seems more rational and careful with the situation.

Batman Rebirth was pretty cool, the molting scene was pretty great. I really loved the Universe Rebirth issue even though I'd read most of the spoilers online. And The Walking Dead was superb.

Read Zero Year - Secret City and Batman Rebirth today. Definitely an interesting take on the origin story in Zero Year and Rebirth makes me think I'll be wanting to collect this new run in trades, too.

Just read B&R: Batman Reborn. I lovvvvveeeee Quietly's art on that book. Really wish he would have done the whole run.

And speaking of Quietly, Jupiter's Legacy is getting a film adaption. Unfortunately, the screenplay is coming from the guy that does the Journey films. I'm cautiously optimistic.

Hm. I was under the impression that AS Batman was in continuity. I guess we will see.

As for the "head writer" thing, I just remember somewhere around Death of the Family, Scott Snyder made a comment about being the "head writer" of Batman. People gave him tons of flack for it, but he maintained that it had been the practice at DC for the person writing BATMAN to be considered the "head writer" and that person got to set the tone for the Batfamily books. It is why DITF branched out into the other Batbooks, because Scott's story leads the way. Gail Simone jumped in and backed him up, saying that for as long as she has been there, the writer of BATMAN is considered the captain of the Batfamily books.

I doubt it is that important, I just wonder if it is Tom King setting the tone for the Batbooks or still Snyder. Or they could have switched the practice and now no one is leading the way.

Has it always been that way? I always kind of assumed that prior to Morrison and Snyder, Detective Comics was the big Bat book.

I think it has been at least for some time now, at least since the middle of the 90's. I think 'Tec has the history, but I believe Batman has been the better selling book for some time now.

And if memory serves, Chuck Dixon was basically in charge of the Batfamily in the late 90's / early 00's when he was writing Batman. And then when Loeb and Lee took over for HUSH, it was the same deal.

I'm not sure about when Winnick was in charge, but he was replaced by Morrison who was definitely leading the way.

Wanted to read Batman Eternal but that pushed me back to Forever Evil which pushed me back to Trinity War so I'm reading that right now and hoping that will be good enough.

Finally got around to reading rebirth and I'm surprised to see mostly positive reactions. I liked most of it but I'm extremely skeptical about bringing Watchmen into the DC universe.

They did the prequel books so that genie is out of the bottle. Anything they do with those characters doesn't diminish the original series...it's still there and not going anywhere. Alan Moore is never coming back to DC. I think there is a bit too much treating Alan Moore like he is too precious.

It has nothing to do with Alan Moore, I just don't understand why it's necessary. It seems more like fanfiction to me

Technically all non-creator-owned comic writing is fan fic. ;-)
