Andy's ever growing stupidity to Kevin-like levels at times really bugged me. i mean, he was always kind of written that way, but they bring it up far too often in the later seasons. WE GET IT, HE'S AN IDIOT / BAD WITH WORDS. you don't have to tell us for 12 minutes an episode 24 times a season.

I don't think they really made Andy any dumber than Michael

Bear in mind that I still have to watch S9, I kind of gave up on the show mid season 8, but I started picking it up again and finished 8.

agreed. maybe it's because he really became like #2/#3 main character for awhile that i noticed it more, but some of his lines are just ridiculous and sometimes i find them funny and other times i'm like, "come on."

although if i want to nitpick, almost every character has those lol

Andy was way funnier as a kiss-ass with anger management issues lol

I actually like Ryan the whole show, although I always think ultra-douchey characters are funny when they're intended to be that way

The cold open to “Costume Contest” in season 7 in which Stanley drinks OJ instead of coffee and doesn’t realize the difference is literally the exact same gag they do in season 3 with Creed when he eats the potato instead of his apple and doesn’t notice

Yeah I feel like when Andy becomes manager, they rehash a few Michael bits with him, too. Struggling to think of an example right now, but I remember noticing it the other day

Also another inconsistency I realized... I happened to watch S3 episodes and in particular The Merger where Andy is portrayed as one of the top salesmen in Stamford (his job title there was Regional Director in Charge of Sales)... but later he's considered one of the worst salesmen in Scranton and messes up what would be easy slam-dunk deals and loses clients.

great catch! i remember that vividly now that you mention it. although i'm sure it could be passed off as not knowing what his character would become and makes more sense for him to be a doofus than be good at sales.

kind of like with Kelly. clearly in season 1 they didn't know what she (or anyone really) would become and by season 2 was totally different.

kind of along those lines, there's an episode in season 7 - "Sex Ed" - where you can see them test out Michael stories on Andy. Andy leads the office in a review of sex ed and shows them genitalia with herpes and stuff and all i could think was, "this is definitely a Michael story line that they're just replacing Michael for Andy with". i imagine the exact same dialogue could have been used for Michael in that scene without issue. funny, because that's what we see in season 9 - Andy recreating Michael story lines.

Having the receptionist fake a call and ignore it is one - michael does it when Ryan is in his office, Andy does it with a customer

The bus trip to get pies felt very reminiscent of the bus trip Michael took everyone on to go to the lake, too. But then again, they also did a bus trip to go to the liberty bell.

Yeah, I would say Gettysburg is pretty reminiscent of Beach Games

Another reused bit: Val coming to the Christmas party and getting embarrassed of how she dressed is pretty similar to Michael telling Carol that Kelly's Diwali celebration was a costume party

Not complaining, it's just fun for me to notice these things lol

things that make you feel old:

in season 3 during the betting episode Kelly is explaining to Ryan how Netflix works. and i realized that most people would watch that scene today and have no fucking idea what she is talking about because Netflix hasn't worked / been used like that in years and some people are too young to have known how it used to work.

ahhhh, the times of debating between what movies / shows to put in order because you wouldn't be able to see it for 4-5 day, depending on how fast you watched it / the mail came / did it interfere with Sunday when no mail was picked up. so much strategy went into it back then. meanwhile today i've scrolled through every option twice and started 5 different things i lost interest in during the last two hours...

Just watched the Jim & Pam wedding episode. Probably seen that episode 15 times, and every single time I start crying as soon as that Chris Brown song kicks in.

Probably one of my all time favorite episodes of TV. Also blows my mind that there was once a time where we didn't know Chris Brown was scum of the earth.....feels like a lifetime ago.
