I’m worried I’m getting too excited about it lol my dream is that Against Me!, Snail Mail, and The Maine get added, but I think AM! is the only really realistic one there.

I definitely expect TBS to be announced.

I'm not really anticipating Against Me! as part of the second wave. I'd love for that to happen, but I'm just not sure why they'd play Chicago again so closely after they just played? Particularly given that they aren't really on an active touring cycle.

I'm definitely anticipating Taking Back Sunday being part of it, haha.

Well Laura live in Chicago (idk about the , so the fact that they're not on a touring cycle is almost why I think they would play. It's been several years (I think 2015 was the last time), and if they have some downtime, then why not? But yea idk it's probably not going to happen. We'll see. Hopefully this week...

    The intrusive whisper fascinates me

I remember LGJ threw shade at Riot Fest on Twitter because of them booking Jerry Lee Lewis. Not sure if that burned any bridges with them, but I don’t see them playing this year

The booking of Jerry Lee Lewis for Riot Fest has always seemed a bit tone deaf to me in the current environment. Seems like a risky booking with potential downside of negative publicity due to his past history.

Probably gonna get a ton of hate for this, but I would much rather support Brand New than JLL.

I mean...if those were my only two options...

According to the Riot Fest Twitter account... The "sale" on three-day passes is ending tomorrow.

Not sure what this means for the next announcement except that we're probably close (file under: no shit).

are we still lucky to be here? Prestigious

why would you want to play the "would you rather?" game with those two? it's easier just to support neither.

    edit: grammar

It does kind of make them sound confident about their second wave though, no? I mean if that wave was going to be bad, you'd think they'd have announced it alongside the sale to distract from the weak additions.

Thinking about it... It may just be that they had truly only set aside X number of tickets at that price and they're pretty much close to gone: "If we sell tickets at $99.99 we would lose $X per ticket sold. We have $X from the settlement, which means we can afford to sell X tickets at $99.99 without losing money."

That may be all it means. Or? They're confident in the second wave and they want to maximize money after that's announced.

I don't know if We Came As Romans were officially announced but they just announced a show Sep 12th at the Bottom Lounge with Bad Omens (Both are on the BFMV tour) so i guess they are out.

Silverstein, Hawthorne Heights, As Cities Burn and Capstan are all out. They're playing Chicago in December.

Peter Murphy and David J touring on Bauhaus' debut album. Probably a big enough deal to be the third headliner, I think -- especially considering there aren't any shows in North America. This is a rare instance where announcing a few reunion performances before the festival appearance makes sense... Considering all the shows are on other continents.

Apparently Against Me! and the Aquabats both have big news to announce today. Even if it has nothing to do with Riot Fest, I'm excited on both counts.

EDIT: The Aquabats have a countdown clock on their web site, so that's probably completely unrelated, and it's just a new album.

Oh, I'm aware. Hah! Initially I was thinking the two bands saying they were excited about an announcement they get to make meant there was potentially some announcement happening with Riot Fest (that would have involved Against Me! and other bands) but...

I'm now guessing that's not the case. But still. More AM! news is good news!

And I think that Bauhaus thing is potentially likely.

That is so damn absurd. Real curious to see what happens when you go to "book your band."

"If you know your party's extension, then please go party with them."

It makes me really happy how many of the bands are just blatantly mis-pronounced in the band announcements.

Laura Jane Grace's announcement is a new side/solo project called Laura Jane Grace & the Devouring Mothers. so AM may be doubtful, but this new band could totally debut at Riot!

Seems unlikely with 3 Chicago shows announced for the project already

It looks like they're already scheduled to play Chicago like 3 times in November? Not sure what that means for RF. Seems...doubtful...?

At a certain point, and I honestly think this point was ~1 month ago, it really must hurt ticket sales.

Even if they did have some sort of major reunion in the works like, say, My Chemical Romance or Operation Ivy... And at this point? I don't think they have anything of that caliber (and certainly not either of those names) in play. But if they did?

With just 6 weeks between now and the festival? A lot of people who might have wanted to go probably have other plans anyway. Whether it's traveling to another festival, other trips, etc.

    Just kinda sucks.
