Disenchantment (Netflix) TV Show

A new animated series on Netflix from The Simpsons creator Matt Groening.

Premieres August 17.

Set in the crumbling medieval kingdom of Dreamland, the series will follow the misadventures of hard-drinking young princess Bean (Abbie Jacobson), her feisty elf companion Elfo (Nat Faxon), and her personal demon Luci (Eric Andre). Along the way, the oddball trio will encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools. Also voicing characters are John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Rich Fulcher, Noel Fielding and Lucy Montgomery.

Disenchantment is produced by The ULULU Company for Netflix, with Groening and Josh Weinstein (The Simpsons, Futurama) serving as executive producers. Animation is being done by Rough Draft Studios (Futurama).

Hype.

Josh Weinstein and Bill Oakley being involved has me super excited. They were show runners for seasons 7 and 8 of The Simpsons and oversaw and wrote a lot of classics.

Cast list is incredible, that has me excited.

Those teaser pics certainly look like a Matt Groening project.

The Futurama movie Bender's Game feels like a bit of a trial run for this. Less than 3 months until this is out so it hopefully shouldn't be too long before we get some sort of trailer.

 

I will never tire of Maurice LaMarche's announcer voices.

 

I’ve met him a few times and hearing those voices right in front of your face is amazing and surreal.

I really am excited for this. Futurama left a hole in my heart and I hope this can fill it.

Eh, after Groening's recent comments about those upset about Apu's voice on the Simpsons...makes me not want to watch this. It's a shame.

Simpsons Creator Proves, Again, That He Doesn’t Get the Problem with Apu

Kind of one of those purposely tone deaf "I don't get what the issue is" things.

I won't say watching enchanted is an endorsement of groening and these comments but personally, as a brown guy in in 2018, I can't really stomach it.

 

Yeah he kind of said a whole lot of nothing. I hadn’t heard any update since Azaria said he would step aside. That’s definitely disappointing.

Yeah! It was a nice surprise seeing it on there earlier.

 

i watched the first episode this morning and didn't laugh much but i love fantasy settings and the main trio voice cast did a very good job. i'll keep with it and hope it improves.

 

Just watched the first ep. I thought it was very promising and I had some good laughs. Obviously it's kinda Futurama/Simpsonsy (Elfo is almost distractingly dressed like Bart and some of the voices are very familiar) but it's still different too. Love the main 3 characters already.
