Finally gonna give my recap of my Warped Experience

Day 1: Chicago
Took a cab into Tinley Park at 9 in the morning from the MDW facing a slight drizzle, but optimistic for the day. Got my tix at the guest list tent then got into the amphitheater plaza quite easily at around 10. They opened the gates at 10:30 from where I just awkwardly half-ran to the owly.fm stage after getting associated with the merch area. From there I stayed at the owly.fm stage most of the day. The rain/crowd delays were texted to me by my dad early in the morning which was unfortunate, but just motivated me to stay at my barricade spot more.

Saw Don Broco and Trash Boat first, both of whom put on great shows and had great control of the crowd. Lot's of moshing and and crowdsurfing which is always a plus for a small stage band.

Then As It Is came on and blew me away. Their stage show has improved so much since I saw them last. Patty's voice and breath control improved, their guitar tones were top-notch and even though they had such little production they showed what great showmen they were. From Ben choking Patty with his tie, representing death, to Patty's anger fits and screams and the culmination in Patty's tricks on the rafters the whole show was an emotional experience for me. Patty gave a speech dedicated to Chester Bennington considering it was a day after the 1 year anniversary of his death and awkwardly mentioned hating himself all of Warped 2015 and "crying hysterrically" the day before, which tbh felt slightly uncomfortable but after reading their RockSound feature I think I get what he was trying to get across with that speech.

Then I saw With Confidence play tight and fun set. It felt like a full circle moment cause they were the main reason I went to Warped 2016 for my first time. They clearly have a huge fan following as they had the most massive sing-alongs of the day.

I then waited in line to meet As It Is for about an hour during which I got rained on but met some new people and met Jayden from WithCon as he walked by. Then I got to finally tell the As It Is all that transpired the last time I saw them and how they transformed one of the worst days of my life into something amazing. Ben remembered me, Foley said he'd make sure to say hi to me the following day and I got to show Patty my skit costume inspired by his character from The Wounded World music video. It was so wonderful.

I then saw part of Real Friend's set before remembering rain delays meant they'd conflict with Sleep On It. Sleep On It played a super tight and intense set, but their crowd seemed super out of it. A few older mall punks who probably should've outgrown the scene by now trying to mosh in a crowd of mainly teen girls and college guys. Then it started POURING rain while Chase Atlantic geared up to play. Honestly their fans were kinda annoying, shouting stuff at the bamd and their crew while they set up, but it was fine. Then they played and IT WENT OFF. I was honestly shocked by what a good performance they put on. I was first in line for their signing (luckily they played my leasy favorite song last, lmao) and they all seemed like genuine guys. (Although it was funny to see the TRUTH van hyping them up nearby even though they were clearly smoking while soundchecking earlier.

Then I shopped for merch, saw some of Senses Fail and Mayday Parade, ate, then caught the first few songs of Broadside's set before leaving to find my Dad and head to a cab. I ended up going in a circle and ending up where we staryed as I caught the end of Broadside's set right before leaving. All-in-all a great 1st day.

Also, Don Broco’s sound guy hit up someone I know asking to meet up because he hasn’t had anything besides adult videos for 5 weeks.

Mine was Wasting Time by FYS. Kind perfect if you ask me.

 

My last song was The Taste of Ink by The Used.

 

Last song I watched was something by Nekrogoblikon (because I was talking to the singer of MCMB and they were playing) but the last song I heard was Pretty Handsome Awkward by the Used from the parking lot on my way out (girlfriend and I both got sick and wanted to go back to the hotel early)

 

Final song was Don't Trust Me by 3OH!3

 

On my way to Mansfield! I have a Converge Jane Doe cutoff shirt on come say hi! I’ll be at the monster stages most of the day.

 

I got Writing on the Walls as my last song, pretty happy about that as I saw them play it at my first Warped ever. Great capstone.

Last song was me crowd surfing for Can't Be Saved then seeing Bite To Break Skin. I'll take that for sure.
