Why would leave the Champions League for Fulham...oh wait. I forgot the EPL prints money for fun right now.

I’d say he’d be quite a big signing for Fulham.

I mean maybe I got over excited, but I thought he was good at Chelsea. Recent champions league experience, still only 27. Probably bigger than us, tbh.

Fulham is a genuine surprise. He could fit into any top tier team right now.

He's not done anything significant for years. He'll be a big signing based on reputation, thats it. Perhaps you rate him because he scored a hat-trick v Fulham? Perhaps you rate him for assisting Gotze in a WC final? He"s injury prone now, particularly last season when he was displaced by a 17 year old.

Its fine that you are excited, we all go there, and im not trying to piss on your bonfire either but he isnt bigger than your club. He needs this move to revive his career.

Wednesday lost 2-1 away at localish minnows Mansfield tonight.

As we were pushing for an equaliser one of their players elbowed Forestieri in the face. The ref waves away appeals so Forestieri flies in with a two footer. A bit of a scrap breaks out and the Mansfield player has to be dragged down the tunnel. At full time one of Forestieri punches one of their players and a 22 man brawl breaks out. Fans trying to get involved, both benches got involved and police and stewards had to intervene. One of our players took a volley to the chest and a Mansfield player left with a mouth full of blood. A different Wednesday XI also lost 3-0 at Bradford earlier in the day.

A distasterous day but the most exciting pre-season friendly we had since we lost 14-0 to Alfreton Town, who were we in the third tier of non league at the time.

I mean, you're right, but according to Dortmund fans (on Reddit admittedly, but still) he's been very poor for them, and was poor for Wolfsburg before that. Add to that the fee they'll want for return on investment and his wages that he won't want to cut too much, it's only really mid-table Premier League teams that could suit him. Fulham is a surprise, but it's not too crazy.

Dortmund gets a lot of airplay in the US (for obvious reasons), and I didn’t remember him playing that poorly for Dortmund...but Sancho and Pulisic were better.

Just watched a local high school team practice counters with crossing in for the final ball and didn’t score a single goal in twenty minutes.

Probably because he isn't wanted, the fans don't like him, and he hasn't done anything of worth. I'm guessing there isn't exactly a ton of clubs in for him.

Rumblings at Newcastle don't sound good. Rafa has publicly said that the squad isn't good enough to start the season and has raised questions on whether he'll see the money from the Mbemba and Merino sales. If he's still with us come September, I'll be amazed.

Newcastle is a joke that keeps on giving. It's like a soap opera.

That said, I'd really like them to become a decent, well run, established premier league club again. The fans deserve better than continually aiming to finish 17th without spending any money.

    I do not exist.

I grew up near Mansfield and I now live in Sheffield so everything about this is brilliant and awful at the same time.

Excited for the Celtic Vs Rosenberg game tonight. Always a good atmosphere at Celtic Park.

If Ashley were smart, he'd have sold the rights to a reality show, filming all the messed up goings on in the background. He likes his cash, so I'm sure he'd be happy for a few extra pennies.

I would love to know the scale of the benefit Newcastle have brought his sweatshop empire. It's never entirely clear what he's creaming off from the club, but it's a good bet that the club see very little from merch sells and sod all for all the advertising he has plastered around the place.

I actually miss the likes of Newcastle being a top-tier team. I still think of them as having it together and coming back but I genuinely don't see them doing that any time soon.

Not good that Dembele is out amirite?

I just miss the representation of the north of England in the league. Sick of there being 6 or 7 London clubs at any one time in the league. Add to that the pointless Midlands clubs that don't do anything past Christmas since they know they're safe (admittedly, all of them have now gone), and the league suffers from it.

Give me back the days of Newcastle, Sunderland, Middlesbrough being mid table sides. Leeds being in the league. Get one of the Sheffield clubs in there. Even Hull coming back up. Anything better than 3/4s of the league being either down south or clustered around Greater Manchester/ Merseyside.

Yeah, him and Edouard have been good up front but he's fit so I'm hoping he gets another chance to shine. Excited since we got him on a permanent deal recently.

Apparently we want Guedes but he only wants to play for Valencia. We are a less attractive proposition than Valencia now.

It isn't. Not just because Dembele is an important player in holding the ball up and bringing others into play but it gives us a headache regarding formation.

It looks like we're going to revert back to 4-2-3-1 instead of the 3-5-2 that we have played with all season. Partly because Dembele's absence but also due to Jozo getting a red card last week. We have a lack of central defenders (with Boyata still on leave from World Cup duty and Lustig (who is primarily a RB) only returned on Monday) and this is causing us issues. We seem at pain to not buy the quality within our defence. Our defensive signings since Rodgers has been here are underwhelming and lacking. Gamboa from the wild may come back in to be RB tonight.
