Dating app a friend suggested to me, more in-depth profiles and you basically only have 5 "swipes" a day but it's alot more curated, not a ton of people use it in my area which is the main downside.

 

It also allows you to choose which part of someone’s profile to like whether it be an answer to a question or a picture. I’ve found that it makes it easier to start conversations.

 

Maybe a strange question, but has anyone here dated someone who they didn't think was at all attractive at first? (This isn't about me haha)

 

One time as kind of a rebound. That was dumb.

 

I wasn’t really attracted to my last two girlfriends at all until I got to know them. Personality is major for me when it comes to attraction.

 

I'll admit that when I moved here I dated someone that I wasn't really all attracted to romantically, she'd make a great friend, and I kinda just kept seeing her as a way to get myself settled into American life and she could help me understand shit.

Scummy 100%, but she did help me get my head on straight as I was going through a lot at the time, and I feel she kinda knew what it was.

The last girl I dated didn’t really stand out to me until I got to know her and then I thought she was the most beautiful person on the planet. Funny how that works.

 

I am a big personality person. Most people I'm extremely indifferent to looks-wise until I get to know them. i did once date someone who I found attractive when we first started dating and then he got rly bad in his addiction and let himself go and kinda looked like Steven Seagal so that was disappointing

 

I care about personality but I'm also shallow af haha

 

My friends used to fawn over my first girlfriend (before we started dating) and I remember telling them that I don't see it. and then like two months later I got to know her through a club trip and we hit it off and dated for two years lol.

 

Looks interest me first then I stay for the personality.

 

It kinda sux cause personality plays a big part for me but I'm too shy and introverted to get to know anyone's personality lol. I do have a type I'm attracted to that I will deviate from too it's not like creepily fixed lol, but I'd say I get crushes and attractions a lot less than the avg person. Like maybe I encounter someone I'm interested in once a year or less?

 

This is pretty much me. I hardly ever go out of my way to meet people (I always assume I’d be bothering them or don’t know what to say) so whenever I do end up interested in someone it’s always an existing acquaintance, friend of a friend, or coworker.

 

for me it's pretty much like seeing a cute dog, like it registers that oh that person is good looking but nothing further than that

 

Yeah I dont go out much so if I'm interested in someone it's rare and they are usually seeing someone already or end up raising red flags or something and the attraction is pretty fleeting. All my friends are women and none of them have male friends that i know either so there's none of that.

 

Pretty much. But I'm not much for the redneck cowboy lewk so even that doesnt happen too often for me irl lol

 

Good thing I got looks and even better personality.

 

Celebrated our one year tonight, ate so much lasagna and drank a few beers.
