I’m at the indie regal owns here and the ticket guy says this theater saw a 440% increase of people coming to these movies since MoviePass. Said it was common for some movies to be seen by less than 200 people in a month long run and now they’re actually turning profits here. I hope Regal announces a plan to keep that momentum up. I’ve really fallen in love with seeing movies at this little place.

I pretty much have to stick with Moviepass for the foreseeable future. Out of the 5 theaters in my city, there are 4 different theater chains lol. And the one I go to the majority of the time is too small of a chain (New Vision) to ever get their own plan.

How do you know if you get a surcharge? I just tested Mamma Mia, Sorry to Bother You, and Skyscraper and none of them had surcharges as far as I could see.

There will be a lightning bolt symbol next to the showtime if it's surging. If it's gray, that means the showtime is approaching surge pricing. If it's blue (I think it's blue, not positive), that means surge pricing is in effect. It should give you a warning though before checking in.

If you have the annual plan (which is what I have), surge pricing doesn't apply to you.

Nah, I have monthly. I'm kinda surprised. I live in Portland, not exactly a small city.

Yeah, it just varies based on times/movies/demand. This FAQ has some more info in it.

I’ve only seen peak pricing on Fri-Sun showings thus far

Has any company tried an "x amount of movies a month" plan? Because I probably only go to the movies 4 or 5 days a month, but all of those days I usually want to see at least a double feature, if not more. Like, I would gladly pay up to $30 a month for ten movies, regardless of how many you see in one day.

AMC is 3 per week for $20, but you can see as many as you want of those in one day.

That's exactly what I want. Hopefully Regal gets on this, I'll be off MoviePass immediately.

if it is like that i'll be ok with peak pricing somewhat since I have wednesdays/thursdays off which is when I watch movies

Anyone know of someone being banned for not taking pictures? Today was like my fifth one lol.

Why aren't you taking pictures? You definitely will get banned sooner or later.

I wasn't able to take a picture last night because I didn't actually get a ticket. I checked in like an hour before the movie, which I didn't realize you're not supposed to do, so the card didn't work and I wasn't able to cancel/re-reserve it and the guy just told me to go ahead without a ticket.

Hopefully that doesn't get me in trouble.

To be fair, taking pictures shouldn't be a requirement because MoviePass should be a much more streamlined and secure system.

AMC A-List I just buy the ticket and go, that's it. No peak pricing or photos needed.

Movie Pass is a hassle for sure. But I can't justify doubling the price and limiting myself to one theater chain unless that chain is Alamo Drafthouse.

Yeah I never get reception in the theater so if I don’t put the ticket in my pocket (a lot of the time I stick it in the drink holder) I can very easily forget to do it.

For me it hasn't been much of a hassle at all. Takes me an extra 10 seconds or so after getting my ticket to take a photo of it and upload it through the app.
