I listen to Anthology more than some of their albums. Being album to hit so many highs from so many albums in a way that flows is so good.

This place drives me nuts sometimes so I turned it off after two years.

But I’m still here all the time. So prob should just turn it back on....incoming

So I listened to the artist in he ambulance straight through last night for the first time in maybe 2-3 years.. maybe longer.

    Some thoughts.

    1. The album absolutely bangs.

    2. Its way heavier than I remembered, like 2-3 songs that are mostly screaming.

    3. The guitar work is phenomenal, the riffs are super interesting and really well done.

    4. Dustin’s voice actually works really well for the record. I think it’s a bit raw/unpolished, but for this album it works.

    5. Holy hell they use so many odd time signatures on the album.

    6. I need this on vinyl.

I really like Yellowbelly and Hurricane. How about we say they have a bunch of good openers, because Firebreather and Cold are really good too

I remember in an interview talks about his voice not catching up with the growth they did on Vhessiu. Interesting notion that their musicianship grew faster than him falling more comfortably into his voice. I think Vhessui to Alchemy is a pretty big growth in control.

Which is sort of bs to me bc his voice is amazing on that record!

I think it sounds good, but I get what he is saying. I feel like he got way more comfortable and control with growing from singing Artist/Illusion type songs on Alchemy. I have a feeling that's what he wanted on Vhessiu, but it wasn't there yet.

I listened to it yesterday too! They really do have some cool time signatures. The bass riff during the chorus of Paper Tigers is so damn good.

Paper Tigers is a fucking firestorm of a jam. After I'm done my Radiohead discog run I will be doing one for Thrice. Can't wait.

The bass riff in the chorus of Paper Tigers and in the verses of Stare at the Sun are incredible. They do not get enough love.

Also random shout out to the the amazing drum and bass intro for Hoods on Peregrine. I always thought that'd be a cool way to start a show.

Artist is such a amazing album front to back. I heard it late, and it was still a game changer haha.

We talk too much / We talk in circles

Dustin working with Teppei as producer is what finally made him comfortable as a vocalist (circa TAI). Producers pushed him awfully hard early in their career.

ex-fucking-actly. i love silhouette as much as the next thrice fan, but there are some deep cuts on taita that deserve more air time than it at this point. namely any of the taita songs that have been discussed on this page.
