Artist crushes the two albums before it, why is this even a discussion??

 

Because most of us fell in love with Thrice because of Illusion.

 

Cold Cash is the best opener of any Thrice record (tho Firebreather is a close 2nd)

 

Illusion and Artist are very close for me.

Identity Crisis . . . not so much.

 

To Awake and Avenge the Dead is still so damn good.

 

Hurricane is pretty dope tho

 

I like Thrice.

I'd wonder if its actually "most". seems to me they really hit hard on the scene with Artist.. maybe thats bc thats the album I found them on.

 

Yep, didn't get into them until Artist even though I'd heard their previous stuff.

 

might be in the minority, but outside of seeing the video for "Stare At The Sun" on TV, Vheissu was my true introduction to Thrice, and I still spin the album every once in awhile. Definitely in my top 10 favorite albums of all time. Outside of the Fire EP, nothing else of theirs has really stuck with me that well.

How do you feel about their material prior to Vheissu?

 

Illusion is fine but Artist, Vhiessu, and AI all leave it in the dust.

 

Comparing Illusion to anything but where we were as listeners, and where they were as artists is lame. Obviously they are better musicians and artists. We've grown with them.

 

I want 10 albums that sound like Deadbolt

This band is a bunch of cheap sell outs that just play songs like The Grey to pay the bills. Thrash metal/post hardcore or don't touch your instrument

 

I love it all. I got in with Vheissu and went backwards, was so surprised they were so heavy because I had only heard Stare at the Sun prior. Illusion and IC took longer for me to get into because of the production, but there are some really amazing songs on there.

 

Their best run and nothing will ever beat it, even though I do love all their stuff.

 

I'll raise you Vheissu (2005), TAI (2007-2008) and Beggars (2009).

How about TBEITBN (2016), PALMS(2018), and a future album we don’t know about yet? What if this is the best era of Thrice?

It’s probably the one ending in beggars though.

 

I'll take TAITA, Vheissu, Fire, and Water over Beggars anyday. *changes name and flees country*

 

Vheissu, TAI and Beggars defined what Thrice truly is. Those records still influence the records they're making now. TAITA does not.

But, I get why people love TAITA, especially if it was their point of entry.
