  1. Idk about Lift A Sail being their best, but yes the last 4 are all better than almost any of the first four

I liked Paper Walls when I heard it, but I was 16 when it dropped

Is Van Halen a hair metal band? If so they’re the only good one

I’d agree, give or take a Southern Air. I go back and forth on those two as my favorites.

I don't have anything against Yellowcard but they are one of those bands where I'm familiar with a couple of songs and like I'm sorry but I'm not going to start listening to Yellowcard as an adult, but I can appreciate how heavy the guitars sound on their more popular songs that I've heard

True to thread title I always thought yellowcard were a bit overrated, but I do really love Southern Air and they have plenty scattered throughout the rest that I like. SA, LAS, and OA are prob my top 3.

  8. Southern Air basically perfected their old sound before they reinvented themselves with Lift A Sail, I’d agree that those two albums are their peak.

Southern Air is the best Yellowcard Album, followed by Ocean Avenue.

Lift a Sail was average and basically killed the band and they could never recover the momentum.

If you like summer and happiness (and I guess pop-punk aha) go listen to either that album or Southern Air.

I know Ocean Avenue and there's no way they have a better song than that so I've never bothered to check out anything else.

trout mask replica is better than anything zappa himself released.

  18. that's probably true but says more about that album than Zappa's other output

true. would also put safe as milk above zappa, as well.

Metalheads choose not to talk about hair metal pretty much ever. That fact speaks for itself and furthers your point.

  22. Southern Air is essentially a spiritual successor to Ocean Avenue and its a much better album. If you like Ocean Ave you’ll like that album.

I like some hair metal and will happily acknowledge its place in the metal canon.

To contribute an unpopular opinion, I like Sea of Treachery's cover of Misery Business more than the original song by the band Paramore.

I can't understand the appeal of The 1975. They sound like Duran Duran or a lot of other 1980s bands... though it seems like a lot of people with good music taste are into them. I must be missing something.

Right there with you. To be fair I haven’t listened to their most recent album but the one they blew up with did absolutely nothing for me.
