Tbf, this is not a phenomenon isolated to Cards fans. The Rays had pride night a while back and they do a dedication/remembrance for the victims of Pulse and some real fucking scum flooded the comments on instagram with anti-gay drivel. They were like “why do we celebrate gays instead of something important like our troops” (Rays have also had military appreciation nights for as long as I can remember). I don’t know why I still read comments.

 

Instagram comments might be the worst. FB comments are bad since so many are left by old people, but so many insta comments are left by 13 year olds who just have such a warped perception of the game and society.

Whenever there's a flashy play or a bat flip, a bunch of kids comment about how X player isn't playing the game the right way / deserved to be drilled. Kids are being fed that by their coaches and what they see/hear on TV and it sucks.

Also, I think like 95% of fans of all teams are the worst. I don't really engage in team-specific communities because it's too much for me.

 

Yeah I left the few Yankee FB fanpages I was on before the season started. I engage people a lot less everywhere else online cause what's the point lol

Oh I’m sure it’s not exclusive to the Cardinals one bit, it’s just really jarring to see something like that there. For what it’s worth, people straight up mocked him in the comments so there’s hope.

 

I know this isn't completely related and also could be a misspeak by me but like I remember a twitter user pointing how there was only like one team who didn't have a pride night and that was a bummer.

 

also the A's being decent is the best timeline ever.

 

Cardinals fans are (mostly) trash but this kind of stuff is across baseball tbh

 

looking forward to a week free of being disappointed in the Mariners
