That's how it was 13 years ago when I started. I'm sure by now it's changed to something like "strongly discouraged".

I think the main reason is that they want you to focus on your studies and school, and that can be hard to do when you're working. And there is also always the part-time option if you need to work.

Law school is a very strange place in that everything is graded on a curve and professors are only allowed to give out a certain number/percentage of each grade. Though, thankfully, they're not required to fail a certain number of students anymore.

Looking back I probably should've worked and gone part time, but there are all these implied promises of how you're going to get a well-paying job right away, but that doesn't happen when you graduate in the middle of the worst economic downturn since the Great Depression.
