I wouldn’t be surprised if it was them, I know locally in the Jersey, PA, NY area it hasn’t really affected their popularity at all. On social media people on constantly asking promoters when they are coming again, and they don’t respond with anything like we won’t book them etc. it’s like as soon as they ar available we will have them. Most people don’t even seem to care/be aware of the allegations.

 

just my 2 cents from all the different discussions today: brand new definitely not playing.

21P would be 3rd headliner IF they were on it, they sell out arenas. I like them and their live show is fantastic but I think the riot crowd (or at least the vocal minority) would be complaining nonstop from now to sept.

No idea what the fest is going to look like if blink and Elvis both drop out and if the 3rd headliner was supposed to be nofx, just shit luck, hoping everyone recovers

I wonder if their delays & difficulties arise at all from being the first full year without Sean, maybe he was the maestro for previous booking

 

BN and TBS were both on the Riot Fest lineup in 2013. They both played Montebello Rockfest in 2014 too

 

Also I don’t think Blink is gonna drop. I think Travis’s condition should be improved once September comes around

 

It is crazy to me that in 2013 BN playing was part of what made me buy a ticket despite never hearing of it before, and now it would stop me from every supporting them again.

 

Hmmm, I've seen the same thing. All friends, family, coworkers, etc that are fans of BN have no idea about the news from last year when I bring it up with them. A couple of them saw BN's Facebook post but still didn't know the details until I told them. Don't think it's made any of them stop listening to BN.

 

See, I don't know that I view 21P much different than Fall Out Boy, New Politics, Fitz & The Tantrums, or any of the other pop-leaning acts who have played the festival in the past. It certainly wouldn't appeal to their core, but... It would draw a significantly younger audience that might actually enjoy the entire experience of the festival and come back again in future years.

But it also wouldn't be as off-putting as some of the other pop acts whose names have been tossed around the last year or so. Mostly because I think most people over the age of 30 have no idea who the fuck they are. Haha.

Is NOFX big enough to be third headliner, anyway? I'd imagine they'd be listed in that top tier given the other acts but... They're a far-cry behind Blink-182, Beck, and Incubus in terms of popularity (and they don't have the kind of cache Elvis Costello does...yet). I would have put them just over Young the Giant on that poster.

Too: I'm sure Travis' blood clots will be healed well before September. And I'd wager Elvis will be healed up as well; he's just an older guy so it's taking him a bit longer to heal from a successful surgery.

I was going to post this! Hah. Not only that, but at Montebello? The two bands played on the same stage right after each other. That was fun.

I've been on dates with at least 4 women over the past six months who have initiated conversations with me about Brand New over dinner/drinks that got real uncomfortable when I mentioned that I haven't been able to listen to them "after that news came out." They had no idea.

Your average person isn't as clued into these things as the kind of person who visits a web site like this...

 

Honestly I'm even struggling to think of who could fill out the mid to lower parts of the bill. illuminati hotties? just friends and/or shortly from the mom jeans tour? I am kinda just blindly guessing

 

Rumor has it that Riot Fest has booked all of us and is billing us as “The Chorus.fm Forum Posse” and it’s just gonna be all of us panning this year’s lineup and real-life shitposting

Was just confirmed by a reliable source that Brand New was originally the third headliner, but after Jesse’s controversy, The Spice Girls took their place, and are gonna play a complete Brand New cover set

Had to miss Deals Gone Bad 2 years ago, would love to seem added to the lower card

Would definitely be good to see some more local acts added, Kali Masi, The Brokedowns, Sincere Engineer and Typesetter would be great additions. Turnspit killed it last year so I'd love to see them back and I know Engines are about to split up but a last show at Riot Fest would be sweet. Also, not a Chicago band but an appearance by Nothington before they call it a day next year would be swell. And finally Hot Rod Circuit, always Hot Rod Circuit.

 

I was pretty surprised that Sincere Engineer wasn't part of the first wave. I'm into Kali Masi and the Brokedowns too, but hadn't even thought of them as being potentials this year.

I'd be all about an appearance by Nothington and/or Hot Rod Circuit too! I'd be really into it if Nothington were part of an aftershow with Cobra Skulls too... Now that would be cool as hell.

Henry Rollins is in Michigan on 9/17.

 

Sincere Engineer has a show on 8/11 in Chicago. Not sure how that would effect her playing Riot Fest since she's local and Riot seems to bend the rules for locals occasionally, but it's worth pointing out. The Brokedowns would make since considering how many sponsored posts I had from Riot Fest appear in my Facebook feed about them...

 

They are also playing 350 Fest in Tinley Park on 8/25.

 

Ryan Key from Yellowcard was just added as an opener to Moose Blood’s fall tour. Could he be a potential 2nd wave?

 

The Twitter account seems to have gotten more active/non-sponsored posty again today.

Doesn't say a whole lot but looks like he is still week-to-week.

 

TWY and Superwhatevr are on Sunday. TWY aftershow on Saturday seems like a possibility too.
