So Nightmare on Elm Street is one of my favorite horror franchises and I know New Nightmare is well regarded but I decided to revisit it tonight and I just don’t find it that scary. I appreciate the meta approach of having the original actors and Craven play themselves and make Freddy its own entity, which Craven would branch off into with the Scream franchise. The movie makes obvious references to the first Nightmare but just doesn’t have the same effect. As a kid I remember the most memorable scene was the babysitter getting killed in the hospital, but it was a rehash/homage to the killing of Tina.

Speaking of Scream, that came out when I was in middle school and understood the reference to other horror movies but I had a hard time sleeping that night out of the notion that two teenagers were psychopaths who easily killed their peers (plus this was before Columbine). That was really hard for me to process and kept me up.

Sometimes I legit cannot even handle how perfect a movie Scream is. It was such a iconic pop culture phenomenon as a kid too. It was inescapable.

I saw that it’s on Netflix today and I genuinely can’t remember if I watched the second season or not. That kind of sums up my feelings about it.

That I’ve never seen any of. Scream was fine but entirely forgettable.

The series was pretty good. Didn't get good ratings which probably says a lot though. Sucks the same thing happened with the Exorcist .

Same exact experience. It IS my favorite horror franchise and when I revisited New Nightmare last year, which I had nothing but fond memories of, I was a bit disappointed

Just saw The First Purge and it wasn't nearly as good or as fun as the previous two. Decent, but mostly forgettable.

Hold The Dark, Saulnier’s next film sounds promising.

Starring: Alexander Skarsgard, Riley Keough, and Jeffrey Wright.

Catching up a little bit. Scream is as good as everyone above says and then some.

The First Purge was meh. I wasn't crazy about the previous ones and Idk why I thought this time would be different.
