Watched Kiki's Delivery Service and Whisper of the Heart back to back and I'm a little overwhelmed. Very relatable.

If both of them end up being my top 2 favorite Ghibli films I wouldn't be surprised.

Is Avatar an anime? I've never seen it but I was gifted with the whole show on DVD yesterday. I'm pretty stoked to start it.

Caught up with Darling in the Franxx because I thought it had finished, turns out it still has two episodes to go but I'm fine with it since it just keeps getting better. The second half has had so many satisfying moments and gone in so many interesting directions. Looking forward to seeing how it ends.

Also I watched The Wind Rises and Porco Rosso which were the last two Miyazaki films I needed to see. Loved both but The Wind Rises was especially brilliant. Might be my second favourite Ghibli movie, I cried a lot.

Also read the most recent MHA chapters and it was a huge step up from Vol 19 thankfully.

I really didn't, haha. I've come around a bit after seeing how things played out though, same with the festival stuff.

Yeah, I've got a fair few I still need to watch but I wanted to at least get through everything directed by Miyazaki since his are usually my favourites. I think every one of his films are fantastic, Howls and Spirited Away were my first two funnily enough, they're probably his most surreal.

i liked her and gentle but it was sort of lame knowing that all of that was just some aside before the next real arc starts, so they had a nice backstory but it didn't matter much because we'll probably never see them again.

I feel like they might end up being good guys but yeah I could also see them just disappearing.

    what is your favorite?

I went to Ghibli museum last week. And it was amazing! They showed Boro the Caterpillar in a theater inside and it was really funny and intimate.

If you're ever in Tokyo I highly recommend it. The tickets are cheap - I think around 10USD converted, more expensive if you buy it from a tour planner - but getting one is the tricky part.

The museum doesn't allow picture and video taking except in some areas, which I agree with, because there are some mind-bending stuff in there that you have to see for real to be impressed by.

Princess Mononoke. The Nausicaa manga is my favourite work of his overall though.

Don't watch .hack//roots. It sucks. I was watching it to get the full story for G.U. and it's just awful. Sign is loads better.

There's a lot better ways to do character development than that...

I like myself some slice of life so I don't mind it.

Actually this reaches towards a larger message about the series to me personally: it's honestly not really a shonen? Like it is, but it's more a character drama wrapped up in a superhero shonen packaging. There's a good video by an anime guy named Gigguk that goes in depth into it, but all the fights in the series are about the emotion and characters themselves rather than the action. There is action but it's not as intricate as most shonen series', because that's not exactly what it's going for. Actually the manga recently has gone into more intricate fights but even still.

I think that's why people are so drawn to it. It's more approachable and a good emotional investment as well. It's a good balancing act between the two genres.

Also, I'm a fan of Gigguk. Nice to see him get a shout out.

P.S. if you like slice of life, I'd suggest Laid Back Camp, Yuyushiki, Tanaka-kun is Always Listless and maybe Denki-Gai (it's not as strong as the others, but a nice casual thing to watch with some good jokes)
