Learning from Failure is the key message / point of the movie

Insert lots of clapping emojis between every word of that

Fin and Rose should have been given something better to work with.

Worst side plot. Worst action scene (specifically BB-8 piloting the walker), the sacrifice scene / travel back to the base doesn’t really work.

I hope Boyega gets more down time with Poe in the next one.
Im exasperated from watching him be exasperated on screen.

Btw. The movie is still pretty darn good. But could have been god tier.

Watched this for the first time since the theater (on a cruise ship, no less) and couldn’t believe that I actually liked this even more than I already did. I was much more aware of the themes and messaging this time since I wasn’t so focused on the twists in the plot.

Also, I still 100% stand behind the direction they took Luke. If anything, it at least helps justify the Jedi being so arrogant (but still really stupid) in the prequels.

The complaints about Luke are the ones that make no sense to me. It’s a totally logical progression.

If you don’t like Luke in this movie, blame JJ and Kasdan for putting Luke on a remote island and forcing Rian to figure out a reason he was there. What he came up with was fantastic, but you really have to do some gymnastics to put Luke there for so many years and not have him be a coward.

All of this is definitely part of why TLJ is the best pop culture event of the decade lol its incredible.

I dont even think its a very good film but its impressively spiteful and I love it.

Best pop culture of the decade? Even if you could make me believe it was a Star Wars film, TFA would definitely be ahead of TLJ in that aspect.

One made over $2 billion, the other didn't. It's clear which one holds a stronger influence and impact on pop culture.

Absolutely not. For better or worse, it’s the Marvel cinematic universe by a mile.

Maybe on this site. Outside of this site I saw much more articles, posts, shirts, etc. that were TFA related. I’ve seen more Infinity War posts, news, merchandise/ads than TLJ as well.

I’m not worked up, just think it’s lame to make a comment and then when people comment on it to just back out with a lame excuse.

The continued harassment of the creators and actors involved in the movie has made TLJ a pretty fucking terrible pop culture event IMO, regardless of the film’s quality

I like that a big bunch of assholes are mad online. This movie has made more people troll themselves than almost anything else Ive ever seen. Its pretty glorious.

There are always a big bunch of people mad when every star wars film comes out because the fan base always finds something to complain about ever since Episode I. TLJ isn’t special when it comes to that. The only difference now is that you have people on Instagram and twitter complaining so it makes it seem like more people are mad.

I dunno. I think TLJ reaction had more assholes or the same assholes being VERY loud.

It's A Secret To Everyone Prestigious

This video from Lessons From The Screenplay (one of the best film-related channels on YouTube) best explains what didn't work about the Canto Bight sequence.

I liked certain elements from it; the discussion DJ/Del Toro's character brings up about war profiteering was interesting and i would've liked to see a little bit more depth on that front

moviebob also has some really well written/thought-out videos about TLJ; this one on why where Luke was in his character made sense

i'm not actually sure if these were posted already, but they're worth watching and talking about again
