I just got reprimanded by my new boss for tweeting that I'm terrified Roe v. Wade will be overturned in my lifetime. This whole "not tweeting angrily about current events and how they will probably affect me in the future" thing is going to be rough. I feel sick about this. I'm outraged that they want to make this process as fast as possible and try to get someone in BEFORE Election Day. It's an election year and I'm just mad they all want to be hypocrites about this process.

 

Was it on a private twitter account? If so, why would your boss care?

Not private, and boss cares because the new job is with a newspaper where they pride themselves on integrity and being fair and not openly opinionated. I'm not even technically a reporter for the paper. I wasn't badmouthing anybody, and I clearly have "opinions are mine" in my bio. Generally if I RT something political, it comes from a trusted, verified source (news orgs/individual reporters) and that's been my thing since college. I rarely get actively political, with the exception of women's rights (I mean, duh.) and the children who have been detained.
I've had my twitter since 2008 and also do not want to go on a mass deleting spree of old tweets...which is what I've been doing over the past few days since I accepted said job a few days ago. I RT'd something yesterday about the win of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez because I liked how she talked to everyone, but didn't see that the person had stuff about Abolishing ICE in it. Whoops.

On a related note, my boyfriend texted me saying that he and his friends were pondering the idea of Dennis Rodman being nominated to the court. This is the world we live in now.
