Note that I didn't say I was angry at people who didn't vote because they didn't have the time or resources vote. That is obviously a problem that needs to get fixed. (shouldn've included the 'state governments that increased voter suppression' in my angry @ list)

I said I was angry at people who didn't vote because they somehow thought Hillary was going to be just as bad.

well i for one am glad we are having this argument once again, despite my earlier post where i said i didnt want to start an argument and calmly explained the very basic but nonetheless ridiculous barriers to entry this country places on voters. combine that with the fact that, let's be honest, democratic messaging was subpar, if your anger is more toward the voters themselves than the reasons these people didnt vote, you're not going to get anywhere.

Which is why I have no regrets voting for a write-in candidate instead of her.

There's a reason certain communities (like mine and similar ones) felt that way, especially during the campaigns. And I explained as much back then.

It's not my fault most of you don't care about MENA minorities and don't do more to help us feel welcome and included in your spaces. I've explained how looking at us from a purely western-centric ("you're not white so republicans don't care about you" "see? you got detained by ICE, the right wing doesn't care REE!") pov further isolates us.

It's also not selfish of me to care about that, considering it's my identity and that shapes how I view the world. It's privileged for everyone else to not have to worry about those things.

I'm not going to be guilt tripped by white liberals on here who never cared about me anyway.

and? I don't thing that absolves non-voters of the blame.

yeah. Hillary fucked up her campaign and allowed it to become, at least in the public's mind, all about Trump

yeah. Democrats as a whole took certain votes for granted, instead of actually trying to earn their votes.

yeah. Operatives on the right made an effort to both make it harder for people to vote, and to discourage turnout.

but at the end of the day, you still gotta cut through all the bullshit and vote. Cause otherwise we in the position we're in now. And honestly, with the dems track record, I'm not convinced we can really rely on them to clean up #1 and #2.

the New York Times running a puff piece about Lindsay Lohan's life in Mykonos today is a pretty good microcosm of our current world, that and the Colin Jost Hamptons profile that was making the rounds yesterday

but there's so many different reasons and factors into why people didnt vote, thats what you're not getting, and if you dont address those problems what are you even getting mad about? if your goal is to get more people to vote, figure out how to achieve that goal. bemoaning the fact that people didnt vote in 2016 over and over again isnt going to cut it.

I just don't understand how after all the failings of the democratic party, someone would actually be so callous toward non-voters or third party voters ESPECIALLY when they tried to force a Clinton down our throats. Would someone with Palestinian heritage who lost family while the Obama administration continued to support Israel's apartheid be able to tell you to fuck off? Or what about the family of an immigrant who was rounded up and sent back to their country to die under Obama, could they tell you to fuck off as well? What about a kid who grew up without a dad because the democrats signed off on throwing people in jail for practically life for non-violent drug crimes? Would you preach to them about the lesser of two evils?
Where should we draw the line on what we will tolerate voting for? How could I vote for Hillary if I vote on human rights issues? Do I just have to swallow all the suffering I know she would cause? How could I vote for Hillary if I truly believe the science of climate change says we need to move off of fossil fuels immediately, and there was only one third party candidate with that policy?
Its been said already, but virtually noone, certainly noone here, thought Hillary would be as bad as trump. Some of us simply couldn't bring ourselves to vote for her, or to even participate in this system that never seems to represent out interests. Personally, if I had to do it over again I would vote for Hillary since I'm in a swing state and I underestimated Trump's turnout, but I can't fault anyone who wouldn't for her or any other establishment democrats under any circumstance due to their constant failings.

many of which I already called out. none of which are in my control. and at the end of the day, we're those reasons really good enough to justify allowing President Trump?

People can continue to watch the dems not really change a thing, continue to not vote, and continue to live with people like Trump in power under some hope the dems finally get their act together. Or they can vote and still push for change but at least better people will be in power.

Which world would you rather live in?

Be kind; everyone is on their own journey.

I work in an environment where I am 1 of 3 managers, with 1 Senior Manager that we all report to. We each have a Team Lead, and that completes our Leadership Team. In our leadership meetings we each have initiatives (Dealing with Change, Collaboration, Self Awareness, Gratitude etc.) and the newest thing presented to our teams today, was a Gratitude Board, in which team members can put up a picture or something that they are grateful for. Could be a coffee mug, family pic, vacation spot, doesn't matter, and then every Tuesday we share, and have a discussion that can be translated to the workplace.

In our meeting today, Sr. Manager brought up 'What if someone puts up a picture of Trump? How will we react, where is the line, and would we allow a discussion for that person to present why they are grateful?' I just spent an hour in a meeting with people of whom I didn't know their political stance, and walked away knowing that ALL of us are staunchly against Trump, and all vote Democrat. My Sr. Manager is very religious, speaks of his faith often, so I assumed the worst. It is great to have validated what I hoped was the case, that he has a moral compass, and is politically aware. He had a specific TM in mind when mentioning this, so of course I combatted with 'That person needs to be aware of the conversation they are prompting, and better be prepared for the opposition they are going to face. This would also derail the entire premise of the Gratitude board, but what if someone put up a Swastika, AR-15, or a picture of Jesus on the Cross?' It ended up being a great conversation, simply to prepare ourselves for anything controversial on the board, but in such a Red State like Idaho, it was very comforting knowing that my colleagues, those I see 8-10 hours a day, are of the same mindset and beliefs that I hold closely. We all left with a sort of confirming bond that we're on the same side...and that side is 'Fuck Trump and all that stand with him.

    In Idaho...

Unless you make a rule about how anything related to politics or religion isn't allowed, something is going to happen with this.

A gratitude board in Idaho would just be photos of potatoes, right?
