Thanks so much for this post, I've been slacking on buying The Witcher 3 for a super long time and I finally did it today after I saw this sale

That’s a solid reason why I stopped playing it.

    I've only heard good things!

I'm a huge fan of these type of games (Fallout 2, Icewind Dale, Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, etc) but haven't had the chance to play again in a while, so I guess that's where the enthusiasm is coming from, especially now that I get to share that experience with a cool person.

Yeah I need to get back into Divinty. I highly recommend dropping the difficulty tho when your first starting out.

    Yes.

Just bought it a few days ago. I watched and read a few things for beginners before I started. Im able to do Classic mode. I had to be very patient with learning how to do things. Just starting to get the hang of it and it's getting fun.

this is why, outside of world of Warcraft, I mostly just play single player story driven games

I think there's 0, Kiwami 1&2 and then 6. They've announced that they're bringing 3, 4 and 5 at some point too but not sure when.

    Divinity is really, really good.

Our first playthrough was pretty fun. The game is way easier to understand than most CRPGs but I can still see it has plenty of depth. Also I love how they implemented non combat puzzles.

Just realized how much I missed playing this genre. Only slightly related but I’m kinda bit bummed now that we’ll never see Van Buren.

how exactly folks define cRPGs depends but i really liked Dragon Age Origins (real-time with pause - can't say how close it is to Divinity but it's a spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate, a game from the style and era which Divinity sought to modernize). i'm also planning to give Morrowind another shot.

Morrowind is the best Elder Scrolls stoy and world wise, but mechanics are pretty dated. Really would have liked to see an HD remaster of that game instead of 1000 ports of Skyrim.

for real, it's what's killed my momentum the past three times i played it. the diceroll combat is so badly telegraphed and it's real challenging to start out with.

Trying to determine whether I buy a XBone S, PS4, or a Switch this week.

I’ve got a bunch of friends who I could play XBone games with like OW, DBZF, and eventually Halo even though that’s years away. PS4 would pretty much just be for KH 2.5 Remix and Spider-Man so that’s probably in last, even though I want to re-play KH2 more than anything with all the extra stuff, plus I NEVER knew about the Data Boss battles so I really wanna attempt a Critical playthrough of that. Switch probably has the most games out now or soon that I’d actually play, but it feels like a pretty much single player investment till MP and Smash come out.

    What do I dooooo

Switch or PS4. In my mind there's absolutely no reason to get an Xbox One S unless you're really tied to the Xbox ecosystem and have a bunch of 360 games, etc.

I'll share my personal experiences with both my PS4 and my Switch. With my Switch, I got it at launch and played BOTW and then didn't touch it for months. I'm now finally playing it more, but not really in the way I expected. Just kind of picking it up and putting it down when I have some free time or traveling. A solid system, but unless you're a big Nintendo guy, you might not be sold on it for a while. My PS4 however gets daily attention. It's easy to use, has great sales, fantastic 1st party and third party and has a really solid mobile app that allows me to access everything I need like downloading games remotely or responding to messages.

It's a tricky situation because it's a lot of money and all have their own pros/cons.

What were the games you'd play on Switch?
