$99 for that box set is very reasonable

Yeah, it's really not bad for all you get, but I'm just not that interested in it for a CD box set. Vinyl box set? That's another story. It'll probably be like TCBTS though, CD boxset, standard vinyl.

This box set looks amazing. Maybe they will do a vinyl add-on option eventually? I feel like they did that for one of the previous sets...

    Regular

They did a vinyl for Afterman, I believe.
But they likely won't say anything for a little while or until these box sets sell out.

I normally don’t like when bands release the first track of an album as the first single but I think it really works here. It’s long enough that it stands on its own and serves as a reintroduction to sci-fi Coheed.

Alright Coheed peoples, I’m going to come clean.

I used to LOVE these guys, and I still own and adore their first three albums. Sadly I fell out of touch with this band after the third album, though still loved them for those three albums.

I am going to the Coheed/ TBS show on 07/11 (I am a mega TBS fan), and of course I want to quickly binge Coheed before then to get back up to snuff. What’s essential Coheed listening so I know more then songs from just their first three albums??

YOTBR gets mostly ignored outside of Here we are Juggernaut and maybe World of Lines. The Afterman albums are both great, they play cuts from those pretty consistently. TCBTS probably won't get too much love on this tour tbh, since they are going scifi heavy on this next album. I'd say listen to the afterman, then NWFT, TCBTS, and then YOTBR.

    for specific tracks:
NWFT: No world for tomorrow, mother superior, the end complete
YOTBR: The broken, here we are juggernaut, world of lines
Ascension: Domino, vic the butcher, evagria
Descension: Sentry the defiant, Gravity's union, 2's my favorite 1
TCBTS: Island, Atlas, Peace to the Mountain

I added some specific tracks. If you want to listen to only one album, I would suggest Descension. I think most count it as the most solid release since GA.

    Thank you very much :)

Yeah I have no idea why I stopped listening to them after what was arguably my favorite album of theirs. So them touring wit my second favorite band ever is giving me a chance to fix that. Just in time for a new album too!

I love NWFT as well, it's a lot more straightforward and not as proggy, but honestly, they haven't gone all out prog since the Willing Wells.

Evagria the Faithful has some of their best basswork.

NWFT: a lot of classic rock influence, but it works for the most part
YOTBR: tried an industrial/atmospheric vibe. some of it lands, some falls flat.
Ascension/Descension: written/recorded over a long period of time, and pulls from all their past stuff and packages it into 2 9-track albums that are kind of all over the place, but most of the songs are really good. Some songs sound like they could be on GA, some sound like YOTBR with better songwriting, and everything in between.
TCBTS: Ditched the concept, wrote a pretty standard rock record. Songs are catchy and bright, for the most part.

The Broken and Juggernaut from YOTB are some of their best songs, besides that that album is kind of a dud IMO.

The Afterman was also their first without Mic and with Josh back in the band.

yeah, NWFT didn't have Josh. they replaced him with Chris Pennie from Dillinger Escape Plan, but he couldnt play on the album due to contractual obligations. Taylor Hawkins from Foo Fighters performed on that one. YOTBR had Chris Pennie write/record. Afterman saw the return of Josh and Mic left the band. Zach Cooper came in for bass and they've had that lineup since. They seem to be in a good space with the 4 of them.
