I’m gonna drop him in a basket on the doorstep of a nice non-gaming family.

i very rarely play this much in a week, but it does happen. there are so many factors at play here that aren't really accounted for. i have friends that work awful hours and get home at 2 am on weekdays. no one is awake to socialize with, nowhere is open so it's hard to do things out in the world, and walking around Albany in the wee hours of the night isn't exactly the safest endeavor. are we to think it's healthier for these people to just binge Netflix instead?

also i used to play games at work a lot when working the last shift, i was basically getting paid to make sure the place didn't burn down or that no client's had the occasional emergency, so i just sat on my 3DS and hunted monsters. that would approach 20 hours a week alone in the down seasons.

I just tried playing LoZ: Spirit Tracks and any fun that may exist in the game is destroyed by the required use of the touch screen to walk around and the god awful mic sections to play the flute.

I'm sure if I played it when it came out I would like it, but I hate the gimmicks and such nowadays. I much rather just play it with normal controls.

It sucks because finally having a game where Zelda is an actual character where she's useful and such is really nice. It's just bogged down in an archaic system.

My living room TV has horizontal lines. Think it's on its last legs.

    So.....I'm buying a 4K TV this week I guess?

Definitely do your research. No point in buying a 4k tv that doesn't properly support HDR. There's alot of garbage out there.

I was in the market already, with the plan to be in the next month or so. Any recommendations for sites to check? Been reading CNET/PCmag reviews/articles throughout the day. TCL seems like a good option, but not 100% sold.

CNET should be good. I use ResetERA for most things. I'm sure there's a 4K HDR enabled tv thread on there to get a real good consensus on a purchase!

I think devs need to step in and create some sort of restrictions to this. You aren't allowed to stream a full movie or TV show online, a game is no different. They should either charge people for the right to stream their content or find some way to change the environment.

The current situation exists only because things changed and evolved so rapidly no one knew what expect, but now things need to change. Devs are entitled to the money for their content. When someone on Twitch is making direct profit from people watching them play YOUR game, that's fucked up.

I know there’s a huge market for it but I’ve personally never understood the appeal of watching someone else play games

    this.

i dig Giant Bomb's quick looks, they're informative and help me decide if a game is for me. but i barely have time to play games, let alone watch a teenage douchelord make weird faces on half the screen while they play it instead of me

It's an archaic system. No one knew what kind of impact the internet and user created content would have on the industry, but now when it's directly affecting the industry and the way they make money and approach making games, something needs to be done. It's simply not fair to the developers. This also spans far larger than AAA studios. Indie devs who pour all their time and money only for someone else to make more money off your product from people watching streams is ridiculous and should not be allowed.
