I wish they had a studio recording of the live version so badly.

It's ridiculous how much I love the chorus to Hurricane.

    FedEx Smartpost continues to dissapoint.

I've had expected delivery for tomorrow, but now USPS says Wednesday. Hope they're wrong.

I do find myself skipping Wake Up and Stay With Me. These guys can do better. The rest of the album I'm extremely happy with.

I don't know that I'll ever understand negative reactions to Stay With Me.

someone said the choruses of those two sound phoned in or easy. I've not been excited by them

Stay With Me sounds like the newest Mumford & Sons album (songs like 'Believe'), I know I'll get shit for this comment but I stand by it !

Mumford comparison are spot on, which is not that much surprising, but I kept that fitting in my book for Dustin's solo endaevors, however I won't complain. Stay With Me and Wake Up are exactly both a bit too straightforward, but it's still great. I can peak my early favorites though - "The Long Defeat" + "Seneca", and "Whistleblower". The opening/closing tracks are also pure gold.

Does a have chorus have to be 'difficult' to be effective though? Some of the best songs ever written have a simple chorus.

The highest point in 'Stay with Me' is the bridge anyways. Probably one of the best moments on the album for me.

"Stay With Me" is a great song. The passion Dustin exudes is amazing and I just love the overall message. Straightforward does not equal bad.

so this album sounds like mumford and sons, Fire ep, bon iver, radiohead, baroness, senses fail, nickelback, mewithoutyou, daisy and mudvayne.

    ok.

Stay with me sounds like it should have been on carry the fire but it would have been the best song on there

Different songs in different moments remind me of all of those at times actually. Which is a sign of a great band that can incorporate their sound into many different styles

The blandness of Stay With Me is nothing to do with its simplicity. Same with Wake Up. They're just not very inspired songs and the album would be better without them.

In your opinion sure. For a lot f us on here "Stay With Me" is a highlight and not bland in the slightest.

Stay With Me is either a consensus worst for people who don't like it, while the rest of us seem to have it in the top 3. Something tells me that connection so many of us have seems to indicate inspired song craft.

  19. JM95

    hmmm

Yeah exactly, a song being 'easy' is different to being 'simple'.

Which is also 'in your opinion'. Hence why it's pointless picking me up by saying that it's just my opinion.

Thrice is the kind of great band who's albums are so diverse that fans will all have different favorite songs. Personally, Stay With Me is one of my favorites from the album. The chorus of Wake Up is weak though.

Interesting/Funsies: listen to an alternate tracklist with album with Blood/Sand opening the album and ending with Hurricane.

And lots of people like absolute garbage. The fact that people like a piece of music isn't a sign that it's in any way 'inspired'.

Now obviously, Stay With Me is not 'absolute garbage'. It's, at worst, mediocre. I just think Thrice can do a lot better than the verse and chorus of that song. The bridge is decent, the rest of it I find completely uninspired. I'd even argue that they ramp it up to be an emotional peak without the ideas or an interesting enough hook to make it work.

Trying to figure out if I can pick up my package from USPS. Is this even possible? I've tried googling and can't get a clear answer.
