My memory for vhiessu is better. I remember reading Jason’s review and then driving to target to pick up a copy. Blasting that album in the car was extremely satisfying.

I first heard Thrice actually on the Headbangers Ball CD vol(?), and it was Image of the Invisible. Looking back on it there were some decent songs on the cd, but that song was on a different level than all the other metal core/00’s metal on there.

Then one day in 2007 or ‘08 I was at Target with my mom, and saw TAI cd. I recognized the name. Picked up that, and Kill the Houselights(was already super into Thursday at that point). The rest is history.

I’ll forever miss the value of picking up CDs on release day or randomly bc of hearsay. No idea what they sounded like you just hit play and jumped in.

Madden NFL 2004 with Michael Vick on the cover was the first time I heard Thrice. All That's Left was on that soundtrack. I heard it a lot when I spent an unnecessarily stupid amount of time creating players in the game. I was hooked and haven't looked back since.

That soundtrack was surprisingly formative on my music tastes - Thrice, Avenged Sevenfold, GOB, Unloco, Yellowcard, Alien Ant Farm, Jet...even though I cringe now at how much I used to enjoy half of those artists, it still set me off down this dark path.

I saw Coheed in Minneapolis and they played an advance copy of TAITA in between sets, and it absolutely blew me away.

Many moons ago, in a land not too unfamiliar to the trained eye, a young foreign boy carrying the name of a late neighboring democratic leader joined a new community.
This new community shared their love for sound and wonder with this young boy. He began to feast on the threads of conversation amongst this group. For how had they learned the things they Knew if it had not been from this very community themselves? The young boy soon made many friends, and countless enemies.
The young boy would come home from a long day labouring in the classroom and rush to the new community he was a member of. He would bask in the conversation of passion that spread like Saskatoon jelly across a large and fluffy bread.
Eventually this new fellowship lead the young boy to one “Vheissu”. The young boy observed the words and colors of the chest that protected this Vheissu. He read phrases such as “stand and feel your worth”.... immense power filled his loins.

That night the young boy lay in bed. Privately in complete solitude, he embraced the sounds of this Vheissu. That night, as the be expected, the young boy barely slept.
The next day him and his kinsfolk traveled to the far and remote islands of Hawaii. Vheissu tasted even sweeter underneath the equated tropical sun. Thus for 1 week the young boy made love with the earth while learning what Vheissu was.

Any story that begins with "many moons ago" is a winner to me.

Lol. Indeed. I just read back and he doesn't use the word "sweet". This story is so good it's already being embellished.

I thought it was pretty heavily implied the love making was sweet, but maybe that was just me.

My Thrice story is lame. My sister's boyfriend at the time got me Artist in the Ambulance for Christmas and I wasn't sure about it so I went to iTunes to play clips of it before opening the CD and didn't like it because it was too heavy. I took it back and replaced it with Copeland's You Are My Sunshine, which in my defense was not a bad trade. Then a year later I was with that same boyfriend of my sister's to see Relient K tour their excellent album Forget and Not Slow Down and between sets they played "Image of the Invisible". Also, Copeland was there too curiously.

Anyway, me liked "Image of the Invisible". Me bought Vheissu. Me loved Vheissu. End of story.

Well if it's important enough to you, why don't you just clarify with the source?

Be kind; everyone is on their own journey.

Good story...they've gotten progressively 'less heavy' with each release, so you shoud give The Alchemy Index a try (only heavy songs are on Fire) as well as Beggers (my favorite lyrics in their discography). Last couple releases are more straight up rock and roll but still quality stuff...
