  1. When your argument becomes “I can’t wait for things I’ve made up to happen” I’m checking out.

  4. She’s even losing self-identified liberals by huge margins. Which is crazy to me.

I mean, he's already passed laws idk how long it takes to undo that but pessimism is great let's depoliticize everything and go with "we're doomed 2020"

Is that the only recent poll that's been released?

It could be because he's passed stuff that's like very incremental and not good enough but maybe for those liberals it's enough to make him great again... fart

  8. her heavy implication is that Trump did this because Putin and China wanted it, when there are indeed many good things that Putin and China want, like, for example, no war in Korea. My point being if all it takes to prove that Trump's motive is to placate those countries is that they agree with it then that can be applied to a huge swath of policy issues that any President might do. I'm sure those countries were happy when the Iran deal went through, another unprecedented foreign policy event.

My knowledge of political California is limited, but splitting up San Fran and LA seems like it could be a win for left wingers, no? Feel like that map would result in 4 dem senators and 2 Republicans...though I guess that’s technically a wash since it would just be 2 new Dems and 2 new Repubs inaddition to the 2 Dems already there. So never mind.

Aside from San Diego, wouldn't SoCal have lower income residents meaning less state revenue and thus poorer infrastructure, school funding, social services, etc?

  16. How many Californias should there be, and where should the boundaries be drawn? A separate state centered around each of the six largest cities — Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Fresno, and Sacramento — would be a good start, with a seventh for Orange County. All seven states would boast access to the Pacific, and each would include one large, prosperous city so that no Californians are left destitute. Each would be well within the prevailing norms for both geographic size and population of American states.

You know what else? All seven would have been carried easily by Clinton.

A ferocious plan for Democrats to reconquer America

  18. Chapo (Will and Virgil specifically) interviewed a guy recently who was making a case to divvy up Cali into five or six states (or more maybe?) who seemed to think it'd be good for Dems (along with stuff like court packing and statehood for DC and PR)

    (parenthetical)

EDIT: it was the person Ben just posted

  19. Does it really amaze anyone? Isn't this like the most obvious outcome?

  20. Maybe the electoral/congress system is fucking stupid when the will of the people can't be enacted unless we start chopping up states.
