Haven't check out Night Verses since they became an instrumental band after Doug left. Checking out the song you posted @Nate_Johnson. They also have a short 3 song ep I still need to check out. I enjoyed both of their records and ep but imo I almost consider them a different band now surprised they decided to keep the same band name.

Why is the artwork different on their bandcamp that's weird.

On the first track and this is pretty tight. I'll echo @ugman_2000 post and say this def seems to be up my alley. Good job @edisnfg

Microwave is awesome! saw them not to long ago with The Dangerous Summer. We've seen them a few times now, I feel like there not that well knows and everyone i recommend them to seems to enjoy them, so thats a plus! Have you heard the band MIGHTY they put out a self titled album this year that sorta reminds me of Microwave a bit on some songs. Might be worth a listen

Yeah welcome to the club and yeah this is some quality post-hxc. Pretty impressive for a debut I'm almost done playing it on track 9 now.

Speaking of quality post-hxc have you heard of the band Gatherers? They just put out a great record. Worth checking out.

    "I'd Kill To Fall Asleep"

    Alright so here we go!

@Nate_Johnson and I traded a few albums, 3 to be precise. Go big or go home right? Or something like that. Anyways, I was given blessthefall's newest album Hard Feelings. I haven't listened to them since 2013's Hollow Bodies, and honestly I can't remember much about it. Hard Feelings on the other hand will definitely be in my rotation because this album is awesome! From the get-go the opening track "Wishful Thinking" let me know that this album needed to be played LOUD! I mentioned to @Nate_Johnson that this is how you start an album. The main thing that stood out to me on this album were the drums and the breakdowns. The vocals were pretty good too, as i kinda remembered the vocals of the previous albums that I had heard to not really stand out that much, but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed them on the album. I'm really glad I joined this group because I had written off this band, but I can admit when I was wrong and if I hadn't joined I probably would have never listened to this album and that would be a shame. So starting off strong with this pick, thanks again for the recommendation @Nate_Johnson!

Favorite tracks: Wishful Thinking, Melodramatic, Cutthroat, Welcome Home
RIYL: ummm...awesome, loud, kick ass music

Secondly, I was given Colour & Shade's self titled album. I had seen the cover of the album in passing but had no idea what the even sounded like, and for some reason I was reminded of A Day To Remember's album cover for "For Those Who Have Heart". Must have been the person with the bat I guess. Going into it i had no idea what to expect. The first track "Hindsight" reminded me of Rise Against actually. As the album went on i kept getting a mix of Rise Against and 30 Seconds To Mars. The downside is I'm not a huge fan of either of those bands. The main thing that stood out to me on this album was the musicianship. The lead guitar riffs were really cool and there were some pretty cool breakdowns in there as well. I can definetley see the appeal of this band though, they've got that Alternative Rock sound nailed down, just like the bands I mentioned before and I could see them getting really big, especially since this is their debut album.

Favorite tracks: The Path, The Conductor
RIYL: Rise Against, 30 Seconds To Mars

Finally the third album i was given was Sienna Skies latest album A Darker Shade of Truth. This album musically reminded me of the first album I was given, with really good drums and kick-ass breakdowns! At first I looked at the track listing and saw the JT from Hawthorne Heights was featured on the last track, so I wasn't expecting such a heavy album. Halfway into the first song "Misunderstood" I was guessing the whole album was going to be screaming, and then about halfway through the song the clean vocals showed up and they two voices worked really well together. The cool thing about this album is that it started off really heavy with the first half of the album then right in the middle it got a bit different with not as much screaming and it made the album flow really well. It made the album feel broken up, but in a good way. Sometimes everything just sounds like 1 long song to me, so it was nice to get a bit of a different vibe on the album. All in all I really enjoyed this album as well.

Favorite tracks: Misunderstood, There's No Place Like..., Separated Hearts
    RIYL: blessthefall, Close To Home

Hope these reviews were ok for my first time and being new to the group. I'm super excited I joined and have already had some really cool conversations with some super nice people. I've been checking this website ever day for about 20 years I'm guessing at this point. I remember someone made a post about a Valentines Day mixtape that featured songs like "Cross Out The Eyes" by Thursday and a song called "Happy?!" by Foundation and "Seamless" by Grade, and I was hooked. So maybe this will start something new with me here and I'll post and comment a bit more, instead of lurking like a creep lol. Thanks again @Bad Frequencies and @Nate_Johnson. You both made this club something I will be looking forward to being a part of going forward!

Every Time I Die- Low Teens
    [IMG]

Every Time I Die is a band I am semi familiar with. I have heard a few of their older albums, but only in the last year since I saw them open for one of my favorites Taking Back Sunday and was thoroughly impressed with what I saw. So when I was given the chance to listen to another one of their albums, I took the chance. This album is ferocious. Imagine that someone lost everything they ever cared about, and then had a chance to talk to the people responsible. This is what that would sound like. There is a ton of aggression and bite to these songs, and amongst the crunching guitars and grit, there is an emotional burst of sorrow and anger. This isn't to say that the album is nothing but anger and screaming, because there is a great melodic side to these songs too; and when mixed with the rage it is a special beast that deserves respect. Each song has an identity and characteristics that make it stand out, no song sounds the same.

The first few songs are relentless punches to the face, but with a melodic flare that has you wanting more. Out of the first three tracks, the one I would like to bring attention to is 'C++(Love Will Get You Killed)'. This song shreds. The guitar in this song is fantastic, and has such an amazing sound to it that even without the lyrics this song would stand out. However, when you throw in the lyrics about how we all die some day, we all fuck up our own worlds some day, and we are all pushed down under the weight of the ones above us; it all just clicks. This leads into 'Two Summers', which oddly enough is basically Every Time I Die's version of a country song. Speaking on past flings and how messed up they were, the song has a southern twist to it while still keeping that raging rock sound that these guys do so well. Honestly this is probably my favorite song on the album, and its also one of the ones with the most melodic singing in it. This happens a few times on the album, 'It Remembers' being one of the more vocally sound songs on the album; and also perhaps one of the catchiest along with a fiery sound to it. The chorus is hauntingly beautiful, and shows some of the true strength this band has sonically. There is always the other side of the coin though; and that shows up in the 5 minute 'Religion Of Speed'. Continuing with the themes of despair in the world and its uncertainty, this song is extremely aggressive in the verses, and super melodic in the choruses. As mentioned before, the guitars are awesome on this song as usual. One thing about this album is that they are on point instrumentally; the guitars are ferocious, the drums are rolling and thump clear and with force, and the bass rides in the back holding it all together along with the vocals. The production on this album is really good too, no complaints really as everything sounds as loud or soft as it needs to be. Nothing is drowned in the background, which is very easy to do when you start reaching heavy tones like the ones on this album. This is especially true for the closing song, 'Map Change'. I was blown away with how great of a closing song this was; its big, its epic, its insanely heavy and its the band letting loose and firing on all cylinders to send the album off with a tremendous bang.

I highly recommend this album to anyone who needs to just let loose and feel like they are about to jump into the biggest mosh pit of life. There are very few moments to breathe on this album, but this is not a bad thing when it comes to this. You are going to feel your blood pumping behind those insane guitar licks, and you are going to feel like you could just destroy something. Give this album a go if you are into the heavier side of music, as this borders metalcore or are a fan of Norma Jean, Cancer Bats, or Glass Jaw. You will absolutely love this album. These guys are great live, I recommend seeing them in that setting as well.

Stand out songs are: C++, Two Summers, Awful Lot, It Remembers, Religion Of Speed, 1977, Map Change

    Great review!

You didn’t listen to the deluxe version though :( Both bonus tracks are really good in my opinion.

ETID is my favorite band and they are some of the nicest guys. My least favorite song on the album is probably Two Summers haha but it’s still a good song!

The stretch from Petal to Just As Real... may be my favorite ETID stretch of songs ever.

A couple other things you may already know:

Brendon Urie guests on It Remembers (and he has an ETID tattoo)

Petal is about Keith’s experience when his wife and daughter were both in danger of losing their lives during his wife’s pregnancy. Keith went through some really tough stuff and this album was more or less therapeutic for him.

The Receiving End Of Sirens- Between The Heart And The Synapse
    [IMG]
Here it is. The scandal brought to light, the controversy. Not the album itself, but how it came to be that I would be reviewing it. Somewhere down the line, I listened to this album at the behest of @Larry David , did a very quick first impression listen of it, and then somehow shelved it and forgot I had ever listened to it. I earnestly didn't realize I'd heard it before when I was given it this week, and in fact the first listen through, I STILL didn't recognize I had heard it before. This led me to believe I had not given this album its proper receiving, so I agreed to still take the album and give it a proper CMCS listen. So who are these guys? They were a post hardcore, ambient rock band from Belchertown, MA. And this album is something amazing. There are three vocalists working going on in certain songs on this album, The lyrics are imaginative and while unorthodox at time they work like a spell, the songs are covered in multiple layers that add an almost ambient feeling to them. I could go on. I have no idea how this album didn't instantly become hooked in my mind the first time I listened to it, something I am glad to say I have rectified now. These songs are catchy, melodic, and pumped full of every emotion on the emotion spectrum.

I knew I was going to like this album as soon as I got to the second track, 'Planning A Prison Break'. Honestly one of the more poppy songs on the album, and one of the catchiest, this song has hooks for days and sonically is extremely appealing to my pop punk and post hardcore loving ears. This album quickly shifts gears multiple times between pop punk hooks to huge breakdowns, and does it skillfully. '...then I Defy You, Stars' is one of the most emotional songs on the album, and it is extremely ambient with a huge portion of catchy. The lyrics are haunting, and when all of the vocalists kick in and begin singing on multiple parts of the song, it kind of just sucks you into the moment; all the while treating you to a huge guitar lick in the background and some very well timed drums. Its hard to put into words, but this album has a lot of ambition. There is a lot going on here, and just like a movie that begs for repeated views to see things you missed, this album needs multiple listens to hear the nuances in the layers that you may have missed on your first listen through. 'This Armstice' for example, has a lovely building intro filled with static and a slowly rising guitar strumming which then takes off into a riff that switches between your ears while the vocals race off in one of the more fast paced beats; all the while the other two vocalists croon in the background. Its downright chilling at times when things like this crop up within this album. 'Broadcast Quality' is just a damn good song and probably my favorite one on the album; it has these amazing vocals in the verses, some amazing screams mixed in there during the bridge, and the lyrics are extremely well written and poetic such as " "Fix your broken eyes on me," she said. As she draped her arms around my head. But her wrist felt just like rope, Like rope, as they grazed my neck, And her fingers, like spiders, spun a web my body couldn't shed." There are so many ways to interpret those lines, but the picture they paint is downright imaginative and horrific. There is also a string tying the whole album together, as on multiple songs you can hear the haunting lines that seems to be eluding to death. Each song just overflows with emotion touching on multiple different interpretations of life, loss, death. Its an album filled with scope, and definitely is one that deserves to be listened to as a whole rather than picking and choosing out songs.

This is a very ambient and ambitious album, with multiple layers to each song that makes each song build on and enhance the last song to create a genuinely effective album experience. I highly recommend listening to this album in dim light with the headphones in, and trying to really listen to it. Hear the beautiful nuances in each part of the song, as there are many things going on under the surface. Listen to the poetic lyrics and try to pick out their meaning, even if sometimes it feels disjointed and hard to interpret. Give this one a spin. I really must have not been paying attention when I first listened to it, though I believe its because and I will admit, I listened to it while surfing the web. This album demands your attention. Listen to it, and focus on it. You'll be glad you did. Its 1 hour and 10 minutes long, but its worth every minute.

Stand out songs: Planning A Prison Break, The War Of All Against All, ...then I Defy You Stars, The Armistice, Broadcast Quality, Dead Men Tell No Tales.
    8/10
