Need to listen to some more Tonic. "If You Could Only See" is one of those undeniable pop songs that I'll never get tired of.

 

A fair warning: Lemon Parade is a very diverse record and really surprised me the first time I listened to it.

Jome - Tunnels (2017)



The last review I'm doing is also from @anonimito and I've saved the best for last. I had no idea what Jome sounded like going into this so I was looking forward to checking this out and when I did oh boy was I happy with this one.

Jome are a duo from LA that play a mix of indie with lots of electronic elements throughout their music and this is their debut album. I'd describe this act as if you mixed The Maccabees with Jose Gonzalez and put that through a filter of chilled out liquid house music. It's calm soothing vocals with lots of electronic elements over the top of some nicely paced drum beats and gentle guitar work. It's hard to pin down what this album reminds me of really because it's not music I listen to all the time and it changes up the styles a little throughout. I guess it reminds me in places of acts like How To Dress Well and The Weekends earlier stuff, along with indie acts like The Maccabees, Jose Gonzalez and Syd Matters but through an electronic filter.

This album is so chill, it's been perfect listening to it in the sunny Summer weather this past week and it's done an amazing job of calming me down on my lunch breaks from the really stressful week of work I had last week. It's a short album that comes in at around 32mins so I've been able to listen to this loads this week (part of the reason Tonic didn't get much of a look in).

I absolutely adore this album so it's hard to pick standout moments as it's amazing start to finish really but if I had to Hollow, Once Red and Cinnamon are all just so beautiful.

Thanks for such an awesome rec @anonimito I seriously recommend other people check this one out, it's only 30 mins long and it's such a beautifully put together album. I look forward to keeping an eye out on this acts output from now on.

As someone who usually dislikes radio singles, that song is a big exception.

A rare live version was released on their Myspace page years back and finally on their Greatest Hits album a decade ago. Apparently it's not up on streaming anymore, though. It's my favorite version of the track - I wish it had a studio version, but I still love it as it is. That intro gets me every time.

Well written! This album is amazing. @anonimito recommended this to me as well a while back and it currently stands as my favorite album I've been recommended in this club.

 

Haha that Alcest album is one of my go to albums for unwinding too, funny that we both rec'd those to each other.

Anyone heard the new Peace single, From Under Liquid Glass?

It's a really good track released originally as a single for Mental Health week, and it's on their new album. I really like the lyrics. I feel people on here could really dig this band.
