I legit don't understand how people are such bad drivers. There's a roundabout near mine, and in the year I have lived there, five people have crashed into the middle and hit the poles. What the fuck?

This is the roundabout btw. Seriously, five people have crashed into the poles.

You can tell how bad people are at driving by the way they walk down the sidewalk.

The basic rules are the same, you travel on the same side of the road/sidewalk, at a reasonable speed to stay in line with everyone else, look around when changing directions, generally travel in a straight line, if you’re in a group you travel single file not side by side, etc.

Watch how people walk down the street, it will give you a good idea of how they drive.

Is this why old people dawdle and generally cause an absolute nuisance both walking and driving?

Until I noticed you are from the UK, I was gonna say that it's because Americans have absolutely no idea how to deal with roundabouts. There's a roundabout that's currently undergoing some maintenance by where I live, and traffic is absolutely horrendous there during rush hour because no one knows how to deal with it. I'm just fortunate it only affects my wife and not me on my commute. :)

That said, I guess that trend of not knowing how to deal with roundabouts extends to the rest of the world though.

Honestly, a sad number of drivers here suck at them too. I get a bit messed up on the really big complicated ones with like 6 exits tbf, but no one should struggle on one that small.

I mean the fact that there's blue marker all over your streets and signs would be a little confusing for me as a driver, as well.

People: how the National and Bon Iver's streaming service frees musicians

    This sounds really cool.

"What that means is that People – the platform – will not be a home for big exclusives, for must-listen Mondays, for tomorrow’s hits today. It’s a place where artists can place their unfinished work, their ephemera, the stuff that doesn’t fit into their main body of work, but which they feel has worth. They don’t need to do complicated licensing deals – as long as they have a login, they can upload their own music – and if they want to take it down and rework it for something else, they can. People is a place for artists to do what they want, entirely free of commercial expectation.

“Take a band that releases 10 songs on a record,” Bryce says. What about the other 30 songs they didn’t release? What about the way those songs changed? What about the out-takes? All that stuff is fascinating, but it doesn’t have a place where it can live. Hopefully this will be an environment where new types of music, new types of collaboration can pop up that don’t fit in with a standard release"

  21. I was trying to visit a friend in DC years ago and I spent probably 15 minutes trying to navigate this roundabout with multiple lanes, stoplights, and 6 or 7 exits. I had to exit the roundabout, turn around and go back in like 10 times trying to figure out how to get to the one exit I needed to take. Not my finest moment. Maybe I'm in denial but I maintain that the thing was unnecessarily complex. :sly:

I immediately thought of this when I saw the date today. Opening scene in Saving Private Ryan is imo one of the best opening scenes of all time.

  25. It's silly how something like roundabouts vary so much state to state here. Roundabouts in Brisbane are unnecessarily large
