I have a few friends with mental health issues that are praising this line, say that its an empowering statement that they shouldn't have to feel less than anyone or less than normal, and that they aren't weaker because of it. After hearing that I'm starting to love that line.

 

I guess I'm speaking more from my mental health issues and what I've witnessed in others. I worry that if people see their problems as 'superpowers', they won't get help and bad things will happen. Its one thing to destigmatize something, and another to undermine that they are disorders. They make lives harder. We aren't X-Men mutants.

 

I see both sides of these replies regarding that line

 

I think Kanye conflates his mental health with his bad behavior irresponsibly.

 

Anyone have a pulse on how this album rollout has been effected by Kanye's recent shittiness?

Can you imagine listening to this album in a couple years? I feel like removed from the context of his crazy antics there is nothing here but distasteful views on women

 

I really hoped that it would affect his numbers. Not because I wish destitute or anything on him. I hope he is well, and his family is well. But this is where I left the train. I can’t get behind any of this, and I wished that people made a collective statement on what they wanna hear from him.

Listened again on good speakers and yeah it’s still a massive disappointment that I’m happy I was able to start bracing for way ahead of its release. It’s hard for me to totally separate this release from its lead up (today when I was listening I could only imagine all the alt right people listening to it just because, and I kept seeing jack posobiec’s tweet about it being beautiful) but even when I try my hardest it’s all just so bland and underwhelming.

 

This is really growing on me and Yikes is prolly my favorite song on here.

That being said I get why people don't like it/won't even listen to it.

This is a mess of an album. The songwriting is a notable step down from Pablo, which is pretty messy itself, and there are fundamental issues with the recording and engineering that make for mindblowingly sloppy Kanye album. There are some cool moments like the end of Ghost Town (and I like elements of Yikes though that chorus reminds me too much of Wolves and the verses remind me too much of Famous with worse lyrics somehow) but I can’t help but think that those good parts are really poorly utilized in a record that was undercooked and rushed out the door. Without even touching the Trump shit over the past few weeks and some of the very questionable lyrical content, it’s a poorly made record.

I listened to this album when it dropped when I was drunk and kinda got into it, but I've listened to it like five times after and it's just... not good. A couple of songs I sooorta like but wow he really just dropped the fucking ball with this. Disappointed, now not only in Kanye himself but also this. Oh well, at least we have the past still

Album is a big meh for me. I keep listening to it waiting to see if it’ll grow on me but aside from maybe a song or two this is just subpar.

Yeah, I'm in a bunch of Facebook groups for just general music stuff and most of the comments I see are pretty positive. Haven't listened to it yet.
