I like the new song. Not completely sold on the guitar but it's cool they're at least trying something different. That being said, it still feels a bit brash and it's near-continuous presence takes from the song's dynamics. Still, an intriguing track. Pretty stoked for the album.

Milk came on the other day and I forgot how much of a jam that is.

The guitar can’t “take away” from the song’s dynamics. The guitar IS the song’s dynamics.

I'd argue that being more sparing with the riff would be much more dynamic, it's pretty flat. My fave part of the song is when the riff hits those sustained notes and comes in again at the chorus comes for this exact reason.

I have to say I put the song on today at work with headphones and it sounds even better. Really digging it.

who says a good song has to be wildly dynamic? there's no one formula that makes a great song great. the lack of dynamics doesn't detract from the song, it's how the song was designed from the bottom up.

if the song went on for 5+ minutes a lack of dyanmics would be one thing but its barely 3 minutes long

Complexity doesn’t elevate something to greatness. Just look at Westworld.

Anyone else feel like the Sade cover was the perfect way to prepare us for this song? It feels very natural too me.

I’ll preface this statement with this:
I adore the new song. I’ve had it on repeat since it was up on Spotify. I can’t get enough.

That being said, I really, really wasn’t a fan of the Sade cover. Just didn’t feel like them. It was alright, but I’ve listened to it like twice since it was released. With an astoundingly good catalogue of music, that’s the ONE song I don’t rate.

The vocal effects in the Sade cover prevent me from getting into it more than I have.

24 and not showing any signs of being able to grow a good one. Shame. I think I would look good with one.

You're not wrong--the song's good, just isn't my favorite thing from them. Glad other people love it. I prefer a "less is more" approach to motifs, and this track is a bit dense. To be fair, there are little things they do here and there for dynamics, but I would've loved a bit more.

Yeah I think this may be my least favorite single from them. Either way stoked for all the music that’s coming.

I'm not necessarily asking for complexity--in fact, maybe the opposite and just having more absence of the riff so it hits harder when it's on.

Anyway, I really do like the track, that's my takeaway here. Don't just want to harp on this one element. I think it's really cool they did something polarizing like this and I'm excited to see what they do next.

due to my turtle jaw-line, I went up like 1-2 points the day I grew a beard and my gf insists i keep it.

i shaved it off for movember one time and it sucked. i shit you not strangers treated me noticeably worse... like i was a 15 year old again.
