and I just found out that Wiley dropped an album like a month ago I didn't know about so Imma head there for my bangers today and you should too

 

Listened to it and didn't hate it, didn't love it. Mostly middle of the road and boring. No reason to come back to it at all. Whatever, back to The 1975.

This is the least exciting Kanye album ever. The lyrics are garbage and his behavior has been indefensible which has made this a tougher listen than it had to be, but all that aside, this album really does feel INCREDIBLY half baked. He should’ve sat on this for way longer. What happened to perfectionist Kanye?

 

finally listening. the beats and features are nice i guess, but not anything like you expect from kanye. the flow and lyrics are outright bad. don't think i'll return

 

I'd recommend his album I Love You, Honeybear first.

 

Don't know how anyone can listen to Chateau Lobby and not love it immediately. It's objectively great.

Yeah, the production is fine, but it feels so...surface level? It’s how I imagine a lot of Kanye’s beats begin. And structurally this thing is really lacking as well. I don’t understand how this is the result of like over a year’s worth of work from someone considered one of the best artists of our time

Personally, I've liked every Kanye album on first listen. Sure those feelings grow and grow over the years and I end up liking them even more but for sure on a FIRST listen, I like the albums.

This one I really, really don't.

 

On another note how is it that Kanye's mediocre-ok feature on Daytona beats anything he does on his own album

 

The more I think about what this could be the more annoyed I am. It's like... Ye, if you want to release a concept EP about how your mental health has affected your life and family (which seems to be the intended structure given the cover art and sequencing), I'm very down to listen. But this isn't that. It's like 1/3 hot takes, 1/3 emotional manipulation, and 1/3 sonic meandering.

The last person I know who called his mental illnesses a superpower punched a teenager's windshield until it was seriously cracked because the kid accidentally rolled over his toe injury free. The guy had untreated bi-polar.

Ye isn't exactly in great company. Too many people talk themselves into that idea and don't get help.

 

This album clips like 15 times, especially in the last three songs

 

Detatching from how I feel now about Ye as a person, this album does not work on a musical level. I can tell that most of it was thrown together fairly recently. A song like "Ghost Town" would normally be a homerun for Ye but it sounds like a demo. Not a single song is satisfying as a complete thought.

 

There’s something very 2018-poetic about a Ye and FJM album coming out on the same day.

 

One more listen later....

Someone should remove the features from this album and put them on a better one.

 

I gotta say though thank god for his 7 tracks only process if this shit was like 15 tracks I'd actually die

 

I like it.
