I feel like Kanye thought the idea to make five seven-track albums, all fully produced by him and released within a month of each other, was an ambitious idea first and foremost. He doesn’t seem like the kind of artist that would thrive under those limiting circumstances though and it shows here. He was just like okay I need to make an album too now.

yeah, i don't objectively see how there was any chance this would be good under all of the circumstances this album and its rollout happened

I said it last night but TLOP, with all its faults, still vibed with me. Like I still really dug it.

I find absolutely nothing in this album so far.

    Keep on moving. Busy street.

In my opinion this album is forgettable and shallow. Some of the lyrics make me really uncomfortable. Maybe I'll give it another chance in a few days, but it's easily his worst.

yeah uh im gonna warn anyone on the fence about whether or not they should listen to it: don't, it's not worth it, you won't walk away with even one song you can come back to without feeling bad

Well I came in here expecting the opposite of what I'm seeing. To me this is his 808s Pt. 2, without sounding anything like 808s.

...and I guess just like 808s, I loved it right away and everyone shat on it :eh:

the difference between this and 808s is that 808s is an amazingly flawed album that was truly ahead of its time. This is a flawed album with no redeeming qualities that doesn't do anything new or interesting for kanye. Extremely weird comparison

I think the time of Ye being a huge cultural influence has been on the decline for a while, and his fucked actions have only hastened it. It’s been years since he’s really made a song that like changed the sonic landscape of music, something he used to do fairly routinely. Hes not the game changer he once was, and it’s only going down from here.

Yeezus seems like it'll be the last time kanye was truly cutting edge

If we ignore the roll-out (which we shouldn't), and I'm just giving him a music review, the album bored me. Nothing was heinously bad, but for the most part, the songs felt half-assed and dull. Kim tweeted he photographed the album cover on his way to the listening party, which is greatly representative of the album as a whole. It's rushed and comes across as insincere.

I liked No Mistakes. End of Ghost Town was pretty good. That's pretty much it. This didn't feel bad, it didn't really feel like anything.

  20. damn there's a new nick F album??? hell yeah

808s was very somber and honest, but still had those big songs. To me Ye is just all those somber and honest songs. There's no big banger, just him getting stuff off his chest. I feel like this is just Kanye where he's at right now in his life. He's messed up the last few months, and he's owning it. Yes there's some cringey lines, but it's Kanye... they're there on every album.

Agreed. I know mileage varies on the quality of that album, but that was the last time it felt like he was pushing himself.

Yea I just gave this another listen, finally proper not livestream quality and......yea I'm still not liking a single song on it. It feels like he really thinks he's breaking new ground with statements on mental health, loving family, and being real to yourself and......he's not.

Like lyrics and controversy aside even, the album doesnt do anything for me. There are FRACTIONS of moments that MIGHT be something down the line or in another person's hands.....but ultimately, nah. If I HAD to pick a song that i would be the closest to on liking.....probably Ghost Towns but that's a stretch still.
