I feel like plenty of people in this thread have pointed out things that they don't love about this record, or that they would have done differently. No one has said or is saying that this album is above criticism. People just don't really enjoy it when people characterize something they love as "cringy" with no constructive reasoning to go along with it.

No one is saying you can't dislike this album, no one is saying your opinion is invalid, that's not what is going on here. I don't want to bring negativity into what has been a positive and productive thread, however, so I'm not going to comment any further on the matter.

This album rules and I'm excited to listen to it later today.

like I don't like the poem or goodness pt.2 but like "This band being "important" or even better than average baffles me." is just a baffling bad post talking down to people. that's not cool. I've aired my grievances with this record but I'm not gonna talk down to someone for liking the poem of goodness pt.2

I've just experienced something remarkably transcendental listening to this album. It elicited a resounding, sprawlingly empathetic, trance like state as I listened in my office this morning. A state of mind not conducive for the kind of government I'm training for.

I'd glossed over their earlier releases when Spotify recommended them to me but this was tremendous.

This and The 1975's release this year have brought me to the belief that sometimes it's irreverent to capture sentiments into words (and especially numbers). In a very tangible way you are treading on sacred ground. Music at its core is an individual experience that is elevated when other's can connect to that same experience. If you fail to be entreated at least make an earnest attempt to understand and share in the experience. If you can't, move on.

Lol come on. You come in a thread and dismissive something that many people love, people give you reasons why that's a shitty thing to do while recognizing that it's perfectly fine for you to dislike the record and people are being dismissive of your opinion? Your opinion isn't conflicting. It was just a stupid comment.

None of us are ganging up on you. You want to discuss what you don't like about the album? Cool, I'm game for a friendly discussion on disagreement. But coming in here every day telling us it's cringey and you can't fathom how we enjoy this album is not the way to do it.

You're referencing what is arguably the weakest section of the album. Also go read the lyrics and try to tell me this band isn't better than average.

I like this record. It hasn't gotten past that point with me yet, but it took HLNPIT a while to completely sink in with me. It feels like a lot of ideas sometimes, and it goes in cool directions, just feels unfinished as far as musical ideas go. I'm sure that has a lot to do with the interludes. Don't pay too much attention to me though, I'm only on my third listen and I haven't had a chance to delve into the lyrics yet. I'll keep coming back for a while regardless.

  10. Friendly reminder to keep things cool in here. People feel passionately about this album and I don't want that to translate into making others feel bullied for posting their thoughts. Likewise, saying that it's baffling for this band to be important to people is understandably going to rub people the wrong way as well. Let's just take a breather and make sure we're being respectful, on both sides.

Having a bbq this weekend with friends, everyone gets 10 songs for a playlist do I dare out all 10 of these songs on there? (Not including interludes) ha

Finally just listened to this in full for the first time. Made me teary eyed and gave me goosebumps multiple times. I can't really remember many albums that have done that for me on the first listen. I already loved this band but this album has instantly made them even more important to me now.

On some, if not all, copies of Coheed And Cambria's In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3 there are a 11 tracks called A Lot of Nothing. You could play ten of those. It truly is nothing but silence.

"Shine on the ones I love" is such an heartwarming lyric. I keep forgetting about it, only to hear it in the second interlude and then smile.

Just had my first listen. God this is an experience. Not a bad song. Interesting production choices but it adds to the charm of it. It defiantly has a euphoric sound to it, to me at least, which I think they might have gone for. Will take a bit to get used to the super loud snare drum but again, I feel it adds to the sound they went for. I'm not sure if I'll like it more than Home or not, time will tell. Solid album. We are lucky to have such great music released this year, hell this month.

    Favorite vocal moments so far

Soft animal when he sings "make me believe there's a God sometimes" and holds the last note
    End of sun- duh
First time he sings you in this light on you in this light ha
Then second chorus of end of reel
The high sustain in piano player
The interludly part of piano player that starts with "the Kind of thing that hangs inside a moment"
Goodness pt 2 when he makes you wait for nothing "at all"
Two deliverances "wounds I got from rubbing elbows with a sharpened edge"
Many others but those are my favorite vocal moments right now

Hell, today, with this, Cassino, Hesitation Wounds, PUP, Thrice, Vinnie Caruana, and Pinegrove's Audiotree Sessions. That's an insane day of music.

Cassino and Hesitation Wounds are the other two albums I plan on checking today. Waited forever for new Cassino so they are probably first. Hesitation Wounds impressed me with their singles so I'm excited too. SO much music today I swear haha.
