Video made me like song a little more. The idea of surrounding themselves in mirrors and acting goofy while saying “give yourself a try” is really endearing, especially coming off a cycle where they did a video in a glass box and had mean things shouted at them the whole time haha

 

I remember a lot of people saying how they’d be pissed off if this was a one month countdown to a single song but here we all are, just as in love with this band as we’ve always been

 

call it recency bias but this is in my top 10 1975 songs to date.

 

the hook "give yourself a try" is sang with so much fucking emotion it makes me want to cry

 

Yeah this is definitely one of their best. Not sure if anything will ever beat “Girls” or “Me” but it’s up there.

the "seeds and beans" line probably refers to marijuana and pills right

 

That's something I was wondering about

 

I was sure of it when I heard “seeds”, but was unclear on “beans”. Pills seems to make sense if we’re following the same logic though

 

beans is definitely a slang term for pills

 

I connected it to the coffee line but I was also sure that wasn't right and figured it was drugs

 

Beans = mdma

 

I just assumed he meant coffee beans for his aforementioned coffee collection, lol.

 

This band is many things: geniuses, genuine, innovators, but not least of all, thoroughly adorable in every way

 

Perhaps it was the compression of the rip from earlier but I've done a 180 on this since hearing the interview and now seeing the video. I love it and cannot wait to see what comes of the next two years. The video is such a great compliment to the energy of the song and the cheeky, sarcastic personality of the band.

It's not my favorite song by them but neither are Chocolate or Love Me..so I'm not worried in the slightest. :)

My roommate told me that he hated the song because of the droning guitar riff. I then showed him Joy Division and how they did the same thing in Sex and he relented on that point.

I'm gonna make him love this song

Well after listening to this all day, my current stance is that I love the lyrics and vocal melodies but not much else is really doing it for me. Excited to see what else is in store though, loving the aesthetic!

Extremely unpopular opinion, but Sex is one of my least favorite songs in their catalogue and the repeated comparisons are making it clearer why I’m not quite as over the moon about GYAT as most of this thread is

 

I had to turn that off after two minutes. I guess I just, ultimately, do not get this band

 

One of the wonderful instances where the video makes it better
