Song sounds good. Upon first listen, I wasn't sure how I felt, but on the third listen, I really dig it. Catchy with a cool guitar part. High energy, but kinda sparse and laid back in a way, too? I dunno. I don't actively pay enough attention to music these days to have a good way to describe the song, lol. Anyways, pumped for the album.

 

honestly the guitar sounds like the guitar in this song

 

The song is cool but it's going to be so boring for their guitarist to play that riff live non stop for 3 minutes haha.

 

these takes about the guitar are unbearable

 

playing simple repetitive riffs isn't boring if the song is good and fun live and the crowd is into it

 

Imagine there will be a looping pedal/element involved, unless the intention is to have it vary slightly as they go along, which George touched on while discussing distortion theory.

 

Yeah, i'd loop it and improv over it with a different tone live. Who knows what they'll do though.

 

also the riff changes a bit during the last verse and its great and very tasteful

but really, i'm sure it will grow on me, especially when it's in context with the whole album. but on first listen, this song just doesn't sound good to me. but whatever. i've always just wanted "chocolate pt 2" or "sex pt 2" and still haven't really gotten it, so i'm grumpy. (sort of kidding)

 

I know I know I'm only half joking. I'm not a 1000 note a second shredding solo kinda guy anyway.

 

Turned 29 today, guess its time for me to get spiritually enlightened.

Yeah, adding different layers and whatnot. This could be really interesting live. I'm sat here playing a little riff in the background of it all as we speak!

I'm a pretty solid The 1975 hater but I have to admit that this is a decent track. That guitar tone really makes the song more than just another synth-pop track.

We should be thankful this band doesn’t do the same thing over and over like half of the other bands I grew up listening to.

 

id go so far as to say its one of the best sounding songs in their discography, which is reliant on whether or not someone likes the guitar tone i guess but i love it. from a production standpoint, i cannot wait to hear what sonic world they're going to bring us in on the album based on this. it's very, very colorful but much more simple than ILIWYS. i like it a lot.

 

this song could be seen as sex pt 2 from the right angle

Fun factoid: by my primitive method of calculation, the rectangle on the artwork has the same dimensions/ratio as the one on the Sex EP artwork (which is different to what they’ve used since)
