Alright I'm sure the discussion has moved on from this but I wanna give my $0.02 in what is probably a poorly explained ramble.

This thread has turned into a clique for sure but really every thread does. It's very hard to go into a thread where any discussion is happening and not see it as a clique. We just need to be conscientious of that fact when other people do wander into the thread. I've seen a lot of criticism of our thread in this site, and from an outsider's perspective I honestly can't disagree with it, but at the same time they don't get it, but at the same time they have as valid of an opinion as we do? I don't know. I don't want to be exclusive at all...but at the same time if we weren't being exclusive why aren't we just using the General Chat thread? The A1 thread exists in principle to establish our rules for our longform bit to give us more control than we would have in a General Chat thread, and we need to be aware that while we are welcoming of anyone who wants to join in, there IS a reason people wouldn't want to and would look at it differently, and that's okay.

But yeah I agree with the point of toning it down with the sexual bits. I don't think sex is completely taboo but there are people who do who may stumble in this thread and we don't need to make people uncomfortable. It's perfectly okay for someone to be like "Yeah this thread isn't something I wanna be a part of" but I'd rather not that reason be us making them feel completely unwelcome, whether through sexual jokes or through ribbing way too hard as we tend to do sometimes.

 

I don't know, most threads on this site can fall into one of two areas: Either "Everyone is welcome here but we're sticking to this discussion" or "If you don't like it leave" and I feel like this thread falls in (or completely away from both) between which makes it confusing.

One thing I will compliment this thread on to no end is that we're open to growth, so often I see threads with an approach where everyone is either toxic or considers themselves perfect, and those two sides always clash and no one gets any better and I like that people here are willing to step back and be like "oh wow I really need to think about this more" and either grow or gain more strength in what was already believed, and can help people out rather than jumping the gun on putting others down when they might just want to learn.
