I just don't get how you consider that song and New Found Glory the same thing, or even similar.

Pop punk does not inherently mean New Found Glory.

Yeah but you know what I mean. That type of music. It's not even close.

There's more than one style of pop punk.

Pop punk doesn't have just one sound, I would absolutely describe both NFG and Two Deliverances as two different branches of pop punk

There's certainly elements of it there, but that's more of a gray area

Ha this is insane to me. Earlier in this thread people are calling The Hotelier an emo band.

I suppose Sigur Ros is Icelandic pop punk or something.

Cool to see Somos. I know a lot of people are disappointed with it (including myself a little bit) but I still like it.

Bands can have elements of multiple genres... and surely you can see how some Hotelier songs could be considered pop punk while Sigur Ros obviously isn't? I mean, labels are dumb, but I feel like those two examples are easy to differentiate.

The hotelier will always have some association with pop punk bc that's where their roots are in, same thing with emo.. Is this record an emo record? Prob not but they are going to be considered an emo band by association

Well of course. I was joking around about sigur ros. And yes, bands can definitely have elements of multiple genres, I just don't get pop punk on Goodness whatsoever.

To me it's evident on Goodness Pt. 2, Two Deliverances, and Settle the Scar.

I was gonna say maybe a little on Goodness Pt 2. But my itunes labels it indie rock so I guess that's what it is haha.
