Meltz does quite a few promotions.

 

He does PWG/NJPW as well. Out of WWE those will be at least nominated.

Okada/Tanahasi, Styles/Nakamura and Ishii/Shibata are probably the favorites though (Damn WK10 was great)

 

This was the best part of NXT last night.

 

Why? One more would be perfect. 5 titles (mens) makes sense.

 

Because 2 of the 4 current mens' titles don't matter already

 

I mean I'm honestly indifferent to it. But that sucks that I am. Title belts just hold such little meaning these days. Maybe you're right. I'm trying so hard not to be a cliche' cynical internet wrestling fan these days. It's fuckin tough.

 

Bring back the hardcore title.

Usually hate Meltzer's opinions, but he had a really good thought on the title situation. One world title and the IC and US titles act as literal number one contenderships. I'm sure that's what most of you were thinking but I really needed it spelled out for me haha. If that was the plan I would be completely on board for the one title.

Something like the Gift of the Gods championship could be sick for WWE.

 

Havent read Meltzers opionon but only problem I see if what happens when the IC champion (number 1 contender) wins the title. Vacate (resulting in a tournament for title which could be done unless done too often) or keep title and defend it?

 

He currently does NJPW, ROH, and PWG as well. I've also occasionaly seen him do a AAA or CMLL card. I haven't seen him do ratings for TNA in awhile though.

He's notorious for having a bias towards New Japan and giving them higher ratings compared to other promotions. This decade so far he's given eleven matches 5 stars, and nine of them have been in New Japan. The only matches not in NJPW this decade he's given 5 stars to were Davey Richards/Michael Elgin in ROH in 2012, and CM Punk/John Cena in WWE in 2011.

 

For those who don't watch Lucha, they have the best #1 contender scenario in wrestling. The only problem is that it would kind of make MitB pointless.

The Gift of the Gods Championship is a professional wrestlingchampionship promoted by Lucha Underground on its weekly television show. Unlike most traditional professional wrestling championships the Gift of the Gods Championship is promoted by what it grants the champion instead of being the main prize in itself; holding the Gift of the Gods Championship entitles the champion to a match for the Lucha Underground Championship at a time of their choosing, provided they give a one-week notice to properly promote such a high profile match. The concept is similar to the WWEMoney in the Bank contract that also grants a title match at the winner's option, but unlike Money in the Bank, it does not allow for an immediate championship match. Being a professional wrestling championship, it is not won legitimately; it is instead won via scripted endings to matches. If the Gift of the Gods champion redeems the championship for a Lucha Underground Championship match, the medallions are removed and redistributed to determine the competitors for the now vacant title.

 

Big problem here is that then if a person beats Roman, they are holding two titles instantly. Kind of kills the rarity of that occurrence.

Was gonna say its basically MITB, but more constant, but you covered that there.

They could do a mechanism for one title where, say Roman is with RAW, Shane can send a challenger for the title. If he wins, they get the title. If he loses, Steph gets to make a swap of superstar (so, she could take Styles and give back Heath Slater). Would give them a round-about way of refreshing the rosters and storylines without needing a new draft.

The truth is they probably do need two titles since the logistics of one title are tough...but is also an argument against the brand split overall

hahaha, just read the premise of the match. Gonna have to go watch that.

All I know is that it's pretty much guaranteed that KO and Sami are gonna be on separate shows to build to that mega inter-brand match up. Although, I did really enjoy the way that the HBK/Angle feud played out in that regard.

 

You guys think they throw Bryan in as GM of one of the brands?
