usually when I'm walking around or shopping I don't always have something playing it's mostly just because it makes me feel more comfortable.

Nah, im not showing off. i honestly get bothered when someone talks to someone in public and you can tell that one of them is visibly annoyed that a stranger is talking to them. like i get it, sometimes people actually are be annoying. but i think for the most part interactions with strangers can be fine.

example. i like when someone sparks conversation with me at the record store. if im looking at a record and someone next to me is like "oh hey thats a great album", even if all i say is "yeah, i love it! im a big fan of xyz", i like those interactions. There are certain employees at my local record store that are very friendly like that, and some where i try talking to them and being nice and i can tell its like pulling teeth. it sucks.

see I'm an extremely nice person (as I'm sure you can all tell), and when people do talk to me in person I'm nice enough I converse back small talk shit or whatever, but I'd mostly just rather not deal with it.

 

another funny example along those lines.

you ever need to change lanes driving but the lane youre trying to get in is full? or youre at a red light and you realize after youre already stopped that as soon as the light changes you need to turn left, but youre not in the left lane. People rage at this. it makes humans so mad if you put on that signal light and try and squeeze your way in, delaying them a couple seconds. people will get this "why are you butting in line" mentality... but have you every tried looking at the person, rolling your window down and being like "hey! i didnt know i need to be in that lane, can i jump in front of you when the light turns green?"

I have never had someone say no to me doing this, yet 8/10 when i just flip the signal on and urge to the other lane, people just drive on by and dont even think about letting you in. everyone should try this, people will look at you like youre crazy but they will like you 100% more.

This might work in Canada, but here I’d highly doubt it.

 

it works here. people are MUCH more likely to let you do stuff if you make eye contact with them. if they don't let you they'll feel guilty and will remember your eyes forever.
