Me too! I just feel like every time I see Gaslight the crowd are huge assholes for no reason, talk loudly through the songs they don't know, etc.

I have a good feeling about the Chicago show though

As someone with family in Romania, that variant sounds fine to me.

this became more apparent to me at the last Fallon show than any of the 15+ Gaslight shows i've been too, bunch of douchebros who think they're romantic

Not that there was a high chance of them playing anyway, but The Spill Canvas and Punchline are out. Both are playing the Bottom Lounge in August.

I really, really hope not. Would be a waste of a headliner, in my opinion, and is borderline at best in terms of actual fit but... It would be a huge draw for the fest. So maybe?

I don't think they'd actually headline though. They would probably end up in the Paramore spot (a similar appeal as well with the 80s pop thing)

That's a good point. Last year at Boston Calling they played right before Tool... Definitely more popular (or just as popular) but don't have that "legacy" thing going on yet.

Too, I wouldn't even call it an "80s pop" thing. Haha. I get what you're going for. But I was looking at that Paramore (and ADTR last year and the Fitz & the Tantrums slot a few years back) as the "big bands that the kids will love" slot or something to that effect. Haha.

Yea that's probably more fair than 80s pop. Just counter programming to the more older schewing headliner

On the Gaslight note - that would make some sense as to why there isn't a second show. They could have easily sold out The Riv twice and didn't do a second show. Riot Fest could be that reason.

The Gaslight crowds are similar to Hot Water Music crowds - a lot of gross dudes. Won't challenge that at all. Sucks that they're one of my favorite bands and the fanbase is full of people like that but that's the rub, you know?

I mean, you aren't wrong with the description of the music! Haha. I've just noticed that Riot Fest sort of has a "formula" now for some things. It started this year when people started saying Band X would go in [Insert Band From Previous Year That's Similar] slot.

Any band of a certain level of popularity is going to have a fan base that includes people who are either into the band "for that one song" or "that one album," or people who are so "passionate" about the band that they just turn into assholes. But as you say, that's the rub...

If they do wind up on Riot Fest, I would be so incredibly happy. I'm calling it a 50/50 shot right now. And if Riot Fest were to announce this week (or early next week) it would give Riot Fest a week or two lead time before Gaslight announces more shows post-Governor's Ball... Not that Riot is necessarily waiting on Gaslight. But it would work with what Gaslight appears to be doing.

Also, I know we were thinking the lineup would get announced on a Tuesday and Wednesday. WELL, if we're still thinking Yeah Yeah Yeahs could be a headliner or second-tier band, their show in Chicago is on Tuesday...so maybe they're waiting for it to pass to announce the lineup? Maybe?

I keep forgetting they have a Chicago show. I'm simply not sure how likely they would be to come back to the same state after playing a headlining show. Their touring schedule doesn't seem to be very intensive...

But if they are on the bill, they'd almost certainly be in the top three lines. So I can see them holding on the line-up for that (especially if they're top 3).

At this point, anything is possible. Haha.

I do know the Riot Fest Twitter Guy just bet somebody $1-million on Reddit that the line-up would be coming out before June 4th (somebody was thinking they were waiting for Camp Punk in Drublic to pass). So. Within the next two weeks. Unless he's a filthy liar. So, y'know, take all that with a grain of salt.

I’m not even attending, and I too am outraged at the lack of lineup announcement

Really looking like I'll be sticking with Jawbreaker at this point. They posted on FB that they learned 7 songs for these shows, including two brand new ones that they will be debuting. RF would have to have something totally insane up their sleeves to drag me away from that now.

I mean, we're really not THAT far off. Remember that they announced the line-up at the very end of May in 2015. And then had a second wave toward the end of June with two of the bigger headliners for the weekend (System of a Down, the Prodigy) so... Yeah.

I just hope this is all worth the wait and there's either a glorious undercard or a headliner that catches us all off guard the way Jawbreaker did last year.

Still thinking My Chemical Romance could be this years Jawbreaker. Just have a feeling they are holding out for their big reveal.

Idea/hope for an random midcard get- Puddles Pity Party. Has a decent amount fall dates already lined up, but is free that weekend and no Chicago stop
