Honestly thought Killer Frost was pretty bad. Don't really enjoy watching characters who play good guys try to play villainous versions of themselves. It very rarely works for me.

I've personally enjoyed the current season of Arrow a lot more than season 2 of The Flash (though neither are what I'd call sterling television). I'd go as far as to rank Flash S2 as the worst of all the "Berlanti-verse" seasons so far (excluding Supergirl, which I haven't watched). Aside from one or two episodes, I was consistently underwhelmed.

Nothing from this season comes close to how some of season 4 of Arrow has been.

Arrow never made me turn it off, which I wanted to do with this during finale week and during the "in the speed force" episode. I think those are the two worst episodes I've watched of Arrow, Flash, or Legends. Both were laughably awful. Arrow killing Laurel was almost as stupid, but at least that show has had an entertaining villain this year, whereas Teddy Sears was just so, so bad.

The speed force episode was great. It was pretty well received too I thought.

Season 1 was excellent, season 2 was good, finale was bad. The season had its highs and lows but they spent way, way too long building Zoom and wasting episodes like when Barry lost his speed and not enough time on building Wally and Cisco as metahumans. I assume Wally will become a speedster eventually and I would've liked the seeds to be planted in the finale.

Arrow is pathetic though. None of that was better than any of this.

Arrow did have an entertaining villain but it got really ridiculous when Oliver kept trying to beat him up over and over again and then being stunned when he was made stoic. I mean, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result...crazy.

I like Barrys and Dr.Wells acting. Those two really do outdo the actors on all the other CW shows. But like Arrow, the Zoom bit dragged on a tad too long. Id say it was anticlimactic. Here I was thinking the Speedforce episode was meant to give Barry greater speed than ever. If it did, they really didn't highlight it much.

  6. Neal McDonough is giving a great performance, but Darkh is a terrible villain. It's not his fault the writing is terrible though.

I'm enjoying Arrow more as well. Flash S2 is still better than Arrow S3 though.

Nothing the Flash did was as shitty as killing off Laurel though

Panabaker said she issued Batman and Robin's Ivy as her benchmark for Killer Frost. Lol

I think the speed force episode was well received, mostly. I thought it was idiotic and a complete waste of an hour. Especially since they immediately quashed his positivity by killing his dad. I mean, at least that twist ended up being kind of essential, since it got him to the point where he wanted to reverse the timeline, but still. That episode was also a waste, because it made a big deal of Barry finally coming to terms with the loss of his mom, only to completely reverse that last night. Lazy, circuitous, and downright bad writing all around.

Barry losing his speed was also very stupid. Thanks for reminding me.

Ha, Oliver trying to fight Darhk over and over again is hilarious. Arrow also has the flashbacks, which are arguably worse than anything on The Flash though. At least they were until that finale last night.

The problem is that the Flash and Arrow villains this year both had really stupid bad guy plots. I don't think the writing for Zoom was any better, at least not after the unmasked him, and Teddy Sears is waaaaaaayyyy less good at playing a villain. Darhk has been more fun by a mile, which is probably the only reason I've still enjoyed Arrow.

Arrow S3 is right there at the bottom of the barrel with Flash S2. I'm not sure which annoyed me more, honestly. Probably this because the finale was so bad.

    Idk

I have trouble sitting through an episode of Arrow at this point. It's gotten really really god awful. At least with this show I can sit through it and at the end just be like ok that was stupid but whatever.

Point of this post is - I should really just stop watching both at this point.

Don't think I'll bother watching anything Arrow aside from crossovers next season barring some miraculous turnaround in the finale tonight.

The last episode was 70% smoak family drama.

At least The Flash is about the Flash.

The finale gives them a chance to retcon Arrow into something not complete shit. I doubt they'll take that chance though. I'll bet it'll go as far as bringing Supergirl into their universe (much like how the end of Flashpoint officially brought in Vertigo and WildStorm into the main DCU) and that's it.

Real Jay Garrick was fucking awesome. Can't wait to see him on Legends of Tomorrow with the rest of the JSA.

But isn't it super interesting to see Felicity work with her dad who didn't actually abandon her to help stop nuke's from killing millions of people and giving the bad guy more dark magic?! I'm not sure how any story line could possibly top that

and the flashbacks. Holy hell the flashbacks. Most god awful thing I've ever sat through. I really enjoyed the flashbacks in seasons 1/2 but goddamn. Interesting idea - don't need that recurring model every season if there's no story there.

makes me so mad to even think about it

    :/ rant over

Remember when these shows were good?

  16. Darhk's plan was Merlyn's plan but bigger. The flashbacks were a roundabout way of saying "hey magic exists." Killing Laurel was super shitty. The shit with Felicity's parents was super shitty. Hell, the shit with Felicity giving Ollie back the ring and then suddenly being able to walk away was super shitty. Alex was, I don't even know, I felt absolutely nothing when he died, not even a "poor Thea." The stuff with Diggle's brother was a snoozefest. Both shows suffered from trying to set up Legends, but at least Flash recovered enough to give us Barry dealing with his mother's death. The only good thing about that Arrow season was Paul Blackthorne reacting to a daughter's death--again. I used to defend the show when everyone said season three is terrible. Season four is terrible, and you're all saying season two of The Flash was worse. What.

I think I could have excused a lot of the bad storytelling on The Flash if Zoom had been executed better. He started out as a pretty terrifying presence, if I recall correctly, but he became such a snooze.

Zoom started off really awesome. I was really into it when the season started. Just hit such a sharp downfall. All the build ups ended up being so anti climactic. Really disappointing to see the potential there but just fail time and time again.

Jay Garrick "shocker" was called months ago. They needed to do a better job of revealing some of the bigger moments of the season and then it could've stayed on track. But just never really picked up and just fizzled out so hard

They introduced Zoom too early. If they waited til midseason to really bring him in then they could have condensed the story which might have helped things from moving so... well... slowly. Spend the first half teasing him and LOT but then just have a hyper focused arc when Zoom arrives.

I stopped watching Arrow when they killed Laurel and basically admitted they gave up on the character.

I still think with the exception of Sara and everyone on Supergirl that the Berlanti universe just has no idea how to write stories for their female characters. I'll watch next season of Flash, but I definitely don't trust Berlanti & Co to pull things off anymore. I'm not nearly as optimistic about the DCTV universe as I used to be.

I don't think anyone is. They took on too much and too many shows and stopped focusing on just making sure each series is done correctly

Arrow seasons 1 and 2 are still great in my mind because of how much darker it was compared to other superhero shows. That's what drew me to it. Sadly, they moved away from that a lot with the more recent episodes of Arrow, the Flash and now Legends of Tomorrow

I guarantee whatever drastic changes Flashpoint causes end up being reversed when he inevitably goes back and undoes it a couple episodes into the season.

Fuck. Hopefully they do the Black Flash better than Zoom. Sucks they won't really need Teddy Sears back for Black Flash though. That's guys presence will be missed.

I think if Zoom had been someone else, it would have worked a lot better for me. Teddy Sears just didn't pull it off, imo, and having it be another person who earned his trust was a bit too much. Honestly liked the early theories that Zoom was his dad from Earth 2 more than what they ended up doing. That would have been a real gutpunch, and I feel like Shipp would have had a ton of fun with it. Then have the man in the iron mask be someone else. Ronnie maybe.

I agree that they really fucked up on the pacing for this season. Between the Legends stuff and Zoom, there was really no room for anything to develop naturally.
