Because I interpret things differently than you do, I suppose. I think there is a lot of nuance in some of his beliefs that, on the surface, strikes a nerve with people on the left. For instance, his take on C-16 is more complex than “pro-trans” or “anti-trans”. His concern is about compelled speech and how the bill would be a first in the western world to tell people “what they have to say” and not simply “what they can’t say”. I’m pretty sure he confirmed that if a student asked him to use their preferred pronoun, he would gladly do it. From a moderate or conservative person, that is a reasonable concern.

The guy is definitely a bigot. His answer starts with "I mean you have problems right?"
He's a fairly obvious bigot on virtually every issue that he's popular for speaking on, from racial inequality to transgender discrimination. He claims there are only two genders and refuses to acknowledge arguments regarding a difference between sex and gender.
