It already did. Sun/Moon were huge departures in terms of story progression and world design. Not to mention a ton of gameplay outside of the battles was also radically different than what came before. I hadn't played a single game in the series since Ruby and Sapphire, but Sun drew me in and I played the hell out of it.

 

really don't see how they're significantly different, there's a lot of cosmetic changes like the change from gym leaders and the removal of hms but they're just replaced with things that aren't that different. yeah there's a heavier focus on story but that has been increasing since 5th gen and i woulndt say that's a major change in gameplay. the system for battling and catching pokemon remains the same and the games are still very much catch mons defeat incrementally stronger trainers by exploiting type weaknesses, fight a villain team, catch the box legendary, and then fight the elite 4 and champion. i really liked sun and moon but it is not a serious departure from anything that came before it. even within the fandom the fact that gamefreak hasnt made any serious changes to the franchise has always been a common complaint. it's the same core game with new plotline and updated graphics, which is what people in this thread are saying they don't want from the gen 1 remakes. i like the cosmetic changes and all but if what people are looking for is an actual rehaul of the gameplay they're gonna be dissapointed.

 

I think that's minimizing the changes to a pretty high degree but hey if that's how you feel that's how you feel.

 

Pretty sure it's been confirmed that since it'll be on a console that they're changing it up completely. The reason Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon happened was so they could push that engine as far as it could go. Now there starting over and using a new engine.

 

I didn't like the changes made for Sun and Moon. Bring me back my gyms and HMs

 

HMs are pointless and I'm glad that they're gone.

 

HMs were an absolute waste and a chore to manage. That was such a needed quality of life improvement.

Can someone help me understand the outrage about back up saves? I haven't had a recent console for a while and understand it's commonplace now but I mean...I never expect that stuff to be permanent and if my console fucked up when I was a kid or a save got deleted I just got back at it

Idk, that and the constant debate about frame rates just make no sense to me

 

At what point is frame rate indistinguishable to the eye? I’ve noticed drops every now and then, but it’s never impacted my enjoyment or ability to play.

TL;DR The human eye can physiologically detect up to 1000 frames per second. The average human, tasked with detecting what framerate he/she is looking at, can accurately guess up to around 150 fps. That is, they can see the difference in framerates all the way to 150 fps.

Playing DKTF, just tried 5-3 and its fucking hard. I probably lost 20+ lives on it

 

After playing a couple hundred hours of World the older MH style is going to be hard to go back to but assuming I can transfer my Gen 3DS save over I'll still probably pick this up.

 

I was able to play Twilight Princess after BOTW, so I’m not too worried about it. Haha

who's got the scoop on hyrule warriors? what's it like? as a zelda fan, i feel compelled to get it, but based on the trailers i'm not sure what i'm actually getting...

 

What you see in the trailers is what you get. Killing off waves of dumb enemies with your favorite Zelda characters.
I have it on Wii U, it really is junk food Zelda. You can really just zone out and enjoy some hack ‘n slash action.
The best part for me is just see these beloved characters pull off such ridiculous combos

 

So there’s not much depth or storyline to it? I know it’s not the same type of game as Zelda, but if I’m expecting that kind of quality I’ll be disappointed?

 

i got it for wii u shortly after it releasd and found it really boring and redundant. tbh i wouldn’t recommend it at all and i always suggest people to get something else. i always feel though like if it came out when i was a kid it would have been my favorite game ever

I'm so tempted to buy this and play it on Switch even though I already 100%-ed it on Wii U. The challenge is so satisfying.
