I hope it causes fans of each band to get into the other. As do they, im sure.

Is this guy just here to talk about how he knows nothing but Coheed and Cambria?

Did anybody go to John’s solo show the other week? Mark and Shaun were there apparently

Makes me nostalgic for @theusedfan or whatever that person’s handle was.

Good guy, but a bad dude

I really felt like they were going to premiere some new tunes on this tour. Has the coheed tour officially started or was Mexico City a one-off thing

I'd be stunned if their set was much different come this summer tour, other than being shorter.

That's a good point. It being their first time there, they probably wanted to keep it pretty safe.

maybe its just long but that list has a few i haven't seen before, or haven't in a long time, so i don't hate it
EMG, 180, spin would get me excited. didn't play 180 last time i saw em

It's pretty awesome to see those songs in there for sure. I don't think i've seen them play EMG since 2010 when the OG line-up reformed. Except then they still had Eddie, John played piano and Adam was playing electric guitar instead of acoustic so it sounded massive.

Spin was great to hear last summer. A welcome change up for sure. TBS setlists remind of Bayside setlists, I can probably predict 13/15 songs in any given nights setlist and even probably get around 10 or so exactly right where they'd appear in the set lol

there setlists have been borderline identical for 5+ years.

edit: didn't mean that in a negative way. would i love to see some other tracks? yup. unfortunately they have to walk a very tight rope with this. they understand that a lot of people that come to see them aren't familiar with their newer material and only know the "hits". if they swap around too many of those tunes they'll lose crowds. it's a lose / lose situation.

Ugh I wanna talk to one of these people that’s just going for the old songs. Who the heck are they? Every time I mention tbs/Hawthorne/paramore/etc I get a pop eyed “they’re still around??” And it’s by and large people that don’t go to shows. I feel like in 2018 if you know they’re active and are going to the show, you’ve been keeping up with new material so some extent. I mean, we’re approaching 15 year anniversaries.

All that said, ik they gotta do what they gotta do when making a set list, but dear god people listen to the new stuff!

I (sort of) wrote about this regarding TBS sets a few years ago when I saw them on the Tidal Wave tour. Really just shamelessly promoting my blog, but I, too, wonder about the conundrum TBS face when preparing a set. You have to balance the new and the old, though I definitely wish they played more deep cuts. No doubt it's a fine line to walk.

yeah I mean, I remember Adam saying in an interview a few years back that he didn't just want to become a nostalgia act, but, that's kinda what they're becoming when 90% of the songs from their sets come from the first 3 albums, and they're the same songs over and over.

All I'm saying is if you wanna play songs off Louder Now and WYWTB so bad that's cool, but throw in "Brooklyn" and "Little Devotional" more often then haha

Believe it or not casual music fans exist. People go to concerts as a night out, not because they're obsessed with whatever band

I get that, I’ve spoken in many a thread about bands making accessible set lists. I just personally have never spoken to someone or seen a fb post about someone casually going to a TBS show (or almost any non-arena show, quite frankly), so while I acknowledge it’s the reality, it’s bizarre to me that these people apparently outweigh more dedicated fans 10-15 years later.

I mean you're probably overestimating the amount of dedicated die hard fans they really have, they're playing decent sized venues and they're selling well, meanwhile their albums don't sell, who do you think is going out to the shows?
